Am heading off to Spain via France monday night we normally go via Bordeaux and irun but haven't been to the Costa brava for a while so fancy a detour. Looking at recommended routes on here A75 is quoted as mainly motorway or dual carriageway and virtually toll free. However according to my 2022 AA map book(Xmas pressie from daughter)and confirmed by via michelin tolls including millau viaduct of over 60euros. What do funsters recommend to reduce these charges
Thanks
Dennis

You can turn off the A75 and go through the town at the bottom of the gorge then back on the motorway,
its a few years ago we did it with no problems, and if I remember correctly there was an aire near the town
if you wanted to stop,

Actually I don't mind paying for the viaduct as it is such a spectacular sight. It was more the rest of the route I was looking for alternatives for.

We just have 'avoid tolls' set in our sat nag 👍 usually work out the route first on google maps set to 'avoid tolls' The A9 which you join at Beziers is tolled.

I agree although expensive now when we last used that route we were happy to pay for the experience and the views on and off this great structure😊👍

The A75 is toll free except for the Millau crossing (10E?)
I would travel down the east side (definitely avoiding Paris) via Champagne and Auxerre and onto the A75 south

Hi stealaway that route would be good from Calais but am getting ferry to dieppe so would be better west of Paris. Need to find a way of avoiding tolls on a71 without taking an absolute age. We always plan a slow meander through France. But it always rains so we normally end up driving straight through.

So we should be excited as booked on ferry to dieppe tonight.................................... But we were ready yesterday lunch time.
So drove to Newhaven as the call centre is closed at the weekend. Can we please sail tonight? We asked. Sure she said and no charge.
We are now in Chartres what a wonderful old place. 29 degrees today and a beautiful blue sky. This one is for two go for cheese.

Have used acsi card at three sites so far. Chartres book price 16€ paid €19.22 said a misprint in acsi book. Nuan 16€ in book paid 16.88€ due tourist tax. Les tambiere just past perigueux book price 18€ paid 19.88€ due to tourist tax.
We bought diesel just before Orleans paid 1.72€ litre. In Orleans le clerk and auchan 1.69€. on motorway N20 varied from 1.76€ to 2.04€. So just less than £1.50 a litre.
Of the three sites only needed adapter lead at one.

Definitely is appropriate for 'two go for cheese' as it has a bench and cheese slicer combined in one.:)

Well headed south from Chartres to nuan le fuzelier shouldn't have commented on the weather as rained heavily Monday night on and off Tuesday and a massive storm Tuesday night so headed on to perigueux. Now not a cloud in the sky
We left perigeux area this morning. There's a cracking park up (x2) on the way towards millau. When I go back to van I will post them. Currently enjoying the sun at a lake past Rodez - the Aire there was rammed so we moved on about 30 mins further.

You can park on the road adjacent to the beach for free overnight (it's on p4n) or in the village on a free Aire. We will move into the village for the evening

///stared.perfect.acidic is where we are now at the lake. The other park ups were a couple of hours before, not far from Le Grand Roc, reminded me of some of the towns around Matlock

The town we stayed at last night was Montfort - it wasn't an Aire as such but a park up and very clean toilet's. There is a sign suggesting parking is limited to 12 consecutive hours, but there were French parked up who looked as though they had been there a couple of days. I asked one re the sign and got the shoulder shrug and a hand gesture - which I interpreted as 'just ignore it' - had a really peaceful sleep! There is a proper Aire in Carsac Aillac about 2 miles away - lots of restaurants etc, the town looked great.

Where we parked (Montfort) is up a very windy and steep hill, plenty of passing places but it's tight, well worth the drive though - small medieval town, cafe bar and one restaurant.

Well we have decided to carry on more or less due south and to go over/through the Pyrenees via the tunnel to bielsa. Does anyone know if this is a good idea or not?
Have a 6.5m long 2.6m high pvc. Not paid any toll yet is the tunnel toll?

I thought motorhome fun knew where you were and changed the flag. Still using UK SIM (Tesco so ok for 2 months). Still don't know how it changes?

We went over it today, no idea of cost BUT when I did a route on via Michelin, one route was over an hour shorter than the others - so it was a no brainer to use the Millau bridge ...an hour's fuel and up and down the valley must go someway to recouping the cost of the toll?

Well we drove most of the day on boring a roads but the last 20k or so was worth it. Proper Italian job and wonderful scenery. Now in bielsa and back to Spanish prices. Bought diesel before Agen 1.69€ but saw it later at 1.57€ now in Spain 1.75 before the rebate.
Still can't understand why everyone else's avatar flag changes to the country they are in but mine doesn't?

However your link suggests toll is less in winter !
Yep once again should proof read properly before posting, should have read cheaper winter prices after the 15-09-22
My reason for posting the link was some members had earlier on quoted very incorrect prices for motorhome i.e. class 2, 3 and 4
