We are staying in an apartment on Gran Canaria.

The apartment below appears to be occupied by people who are devoted to Zen Buddhism, as there are several depictions of Budha.

I had a good laugh this morning as one of the Buddha's had Christmas decorations draped over it.

Has Budha converted or are they confused?

Any excuse for a party is usually welcome anywhere. (y) :party2:

I lived and worked in India and Nepal. Nice thing about the Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims was that they all celebrated each other‘s feast days as well as Christian ones. Nice attitude to have. No point in missing a knees up!

Are you really sure it was Buddha and not his only seen once a year brother?

Just wait 'til the Unions in the UK get wind of that!:whistle2:

My wife has a couple of Buddhas but that doesn’t make her a Zen Buddhist. She will light a candle in a Church and that doesn’t make her a Christian. You can probably find bits of many faiths that you find helpful and not even believe in God. Wise words are wise words whatever their source.

Hmm.
I lived with a German Buddhist partner for 7 years, first in Cologne and then in Brighton. I went to several birthday parties which are fine if you enjoy celery sticks with a dahl dip, rice cakes that are as flavoursome as a polystyrene ceiling tile and home-made elderflower cordial.

We attend a new Baptist Church on a new housing estate. This week the church recieved a letter for some local Muslims asking if they could bring 5/6 muslim families to the Christmas Day service to celebrate Christmas with us.

Of course we said yes. I'm not sure most Christians would do the reverse at Eid?

Joanne has tinsel and decorations on her home temple.

Buddhism isn’t a religion in the typical sense like RC its more of living your life in tune with the planet with kindness in your heart. You won’t find many Buddhists wanting to fight anyone or impose their beliefs or life choices down anyone else’s throat.
I have friends who are Buddhists who still celebrate Christmas and other traditional celebrations and they do really get into the spirit of them too 👏👏

I would be a Buddhist if I could be bothered to make the effort but can’t be ar@ed 😆 as for other religions, They are run by hypocrites who love the power over their followers and the need to accumulate wealth at the expense of said followers. 👿

That’s great and in my eyes how it should be.

The question has to be why do we get these extreme Muslims wanting to blow people up over what seems to be religion 🤷‍♂️

I appreciate it seems a small amount want to do this but I just can’t get my head around it.

It’s always been the case, if you look at history the Muslims have always wanted to be ‘top dog’ in the religious stakes, throughout the centuries they have tried to wipe out other religions, it’s a ‘power and control‘ thing nothing to do with which God is the best. Not that I believe in God, he in all his forms, is just a crutch.

I think a lot of people don't mind any religion as long as it promotes being good to others and not thinking non believer's are inferior. I generally don't believe any of them but think if I'm wrong that at the pearly gates they will weigh up how I treated others more than the amount of time spent on my knees. If they weigh it up the other way around I don't want to go in anyway. Wouldn't it be nice if one of the TV channels had the life of Brian, turnip from black adder and similar one over Christmas to give some relief for people who think it might be a good jolly but it was a shame to steal it from the druids.

I shook hands with a Sikh on Tuesday who was wearing a Christmas jumper that matched the turban colour. We wished each other a Happy Christmas.

As an atheist, I still celebrate Christmas. It’s a tradition long before Christianity formalised it.

Who doesn’t love eating crap and swapping presents in the dullest month of the year. Win win. 😆

What do you do at Christmas?

The Teacher asked young Patrick Murphy: "What do you do at Christmas time?

Patrick addressed the class: "Well Ms. Jones, me and my twelve brothers and sisters go to midnight mass and we sing hymns; then we come home very late and we put mince pies by the back door and hang up our stockings. Then all excited, we go to bed and wait for Father Christmas to come with all our toys.

"Very nice Patrick," she said. "Now Jimmy Brown, what do you do at Christmas?"

Well, Ms. Jones, me and my sister also go to church with Mum and Dad and we sing carols and we get home ever so late. We put cakes and milk by the chimney and we hang up our stockings. We hardly sleep, waiting for Santa Claus to bring our presents.

Realizing there was a Jewish boy in the class and not wanting to leave him out of the discussion, she asked, "Now, Isaac Cohen, what do you do at Christmas?"

Isaac said, "Well, it's the same thing every year.......Dad comes home from the office. We all pile into the Rolls Royce; then we drive to Dad's toy factory. When we get inside, we look at all the empty shelves and begin to sing: “What A Friend We Have in Jesus”. Then we all go to the Bahamas.

I was getting into the Christmas spirit yesterday by watching the Life of Brian. Forgot how funny it is.

Thought there might be a racist joke before long

But they actually worship the same God? Just that they use rules dreamed up By Mohammed, who happened to be lower than JC who was at least God's son, & basically the tea boy.
