We have a five year old Frankia on a Fiat Base with 31000 miles and a Comformatic gearbox. On Friday we set and halfway there, I felt the mh losing power and tried pressing the accelerator to compensate. Nothing happened and saw the red warning light illuminated and ground to a halt. Tried to move off again to no avail. Peered into the dash board and read the message “ No Gear Selected”. Switched engine off, restarted , selected forward and we moved off.
Is this the start of problems or was it just a blip. Opinions please.

Sadly I fear you may not know until a while from now. The Comformatic/Agile related issues seem to take many and varied forms. Often not related to the gearbox in any real way.

So my view is that the gearbox isn’t really the thing that gives people issues, other than the actuator which do fail, they actually seem pretty good (I’ve not heard of any ‘internals’ gearbox failures) it’s the electronics supporting the gearbox and other sensors on the vehicles not communicating exactly what the gearbox ECU and or the vehicle ECU wants to see at that exact moment; these seem to present the problems.

I had the same ‘no gear selected’ and it turned out to be the clutch and dual mass flywheel.
And my motorhome had just 40,000 miles on the clock.

It is a common on Comfomatic, happened to us last year in Spain at the time we were on a hairpin bend on a 1 in 6, I need a pair of brown trousers but luckily turned ignition off and back on and it all reset.

That often is caused by the clutch fluid not being changed regularly. Although it's a common master cylinder a lot of garages when they change the brake fluid they don't bother bleeding the slave cylinder as it's a pain to do. With age and heat the fluid thickens and the clutch does not clear properly.
