Taken from UKCampsite, thought it’s worth sharing, especially the recommendations by Calor.

At least they are being flexible wrt replacing one size cylinder with a different size although it seems that you'll have to show the Cylinder Refill Agreement. Luckily I have mine but those obtained from tips, Faecesbook, eBay etc probably won't be so lucky. (y)

They also state formally that they are not supplying any new cylinders so I wonder how m/home distributors manage on new m/homes. Best take your cylinders out before doing a part exchange.

Yes indeed. It seems a bit of a muddled situation and their website is rather vague even when giving what should be specific information and which is also fragmented across different pages.

Hi i have had two 6kg Calorlite from when i bought the van new in 2009 and found after a couple of years they became more and more difficult to exchange so i bought a Gasit 6kg and it helped with the problems between getting a exchange Calorlite and european travel. I did manage to swop to the old 6kg propane last month before the cut off and will use as backup till May when i have booked a service, on the fridge as it was sooting up and will have a second 6kg Gasit and outside filler fitted at the same time with Habitation.

Hi all - really new newbie so I hope you don’t mind but I don’t know who else to ask - we’ve been offered 2 x 6kg Calor Gas bottles 1 x empty and 1 full the asking price is £50 - what do you think? Is that a good price? many thanks J&S

These are them
Personally I’d have them, but might be worth checking with your local Calor that you can actually get them exchanged without any problems.

My local Calor, swopped my 2 x 6kg bottles for 2 x 13kg bottles for free, less the £26 refill on the 13kg ones, which fits nicely in my gas locker.

Perhaps if Calor put a returnable deposit on their cylinders so if you have finished with it you take it back, then they may have more to go around, atm unlike other types of compressed gases (I'm from an engineering background) that have a rental as part of the cost, Propane does not and it might stop them being used for items like this,

You do pay a deposit when you first hire to return the bottle when you no longer need it . The problem is it is on a sliding scale downwords on the length of hire and you need the original paperwork , who keeps that after 30+ years
