Where are they taking them to, as surely they run the risk of the police pulling them with non essential travel? Three must stick out like a sore thumb and worryingly, yet more in West Yorkshire.

Sorry. I don’t seem to be able to edit. It should read Motorhomes stolen.

I've not seen a report anywhere else.

No news report to post, but a chap on Motorhome Madness Facebook group posted that his is one of those stolen with pictures of his van. I was on site yesterday and found out from someone else as mine is also on this site.

How did they get the motorhomes out.
It has two gates on the yard don't they.

Took out the temporary fencing at the side of the office as you drive in. And there’s me thinking it was secure with the electric fencing. Not very secure now is it! I’m hoping they will upgrade security now and replace this fencing. Scumbags obviously in the know or done a reccie.

When I read Interceptor's question my immediate thought was some side fencing, although I do not know the site.

Even high galvanised fencing is usually just bolted together, so can be unbolted and moved aside.

Owners/operators are obviously not good at risk assessment for theft.

Years ago we lost a caravan to a simple con that I reckon would easily work again today on a lot of storage sites

storage site owner lives next door to site and notice on gates says call at bungalow

So a couple do, tell them they are picking up a caravan next weekend and it’s needs to go straight to storage nowhere at home for it, what do we do

give us name and address, £50 deposit for key and pay us £250 for storage for year it was 20 years ago

they did, left a false address, got a key and that night took the three biggest Caravans in the compound ? took a few weeks for us to notice as not used much, thought Site owner might have moved it but checked whole site before realising , took a few more weeks to confirm how many had gone ?

We live nearby and chose not to store at Coney Park because of hearing similar stories about its poor security. One half of the one on Leeds Road, Ilkley, 10 miles away is being converted to a garden centre and I suspect security there has suffered there too as the permanent fencing has been removed, due to the construction works.
Storage site owners don't appear to take appropriate responsibility for the expensive equipment that they take payment for. If your unit is nicked, it costs them nothing.

We were on Wharfe Valley Place on the way to Ilkley and they broke in there and took two from there whilst we were on. They got in the same way then - through poor/temporary fencing.

They then sold off most of this site off to build a garden centre, and so kicked loads of MH/Caravans off, but luckily, we got a space at Coney Park. The weakness here is the sections with temporary fencing that is clamped together and sit in concrete blocks/boots.

Trouble is, all the “secure sites” around Bradford/Leeds are full with massive waiting lists as there are three sites that have closed in the last 6/9 months, so we are hardly in a position to pick and choose.

Let’s hope Coney Park ramp up security.

Electric fencing? Surely a fence at mains voltage isn't legal? Was it low voltage for restraining cattle/horses?
High voltage low current not illegal but needs to be 2metres from ground level usually mounted on the top of paladin (weld mesh ornamental ) or palisade (vertical bars) also a cable fastened to the fence that will detect cutting or climbing used in prisons but also on high security sites
Problem with these systems very expensive but if maintained correctly will protect the perimeter

Well I never! I guess that apart from being costly to install it is only permissible at 'Gov't' and other official security sensitive sites and a householder wouldn't be allowed to install it at home.
A neighbour in my village was recently ordered by the parish council to remove sharp glass shards that were set in the topping mortar on a 30m long x 2.5m high brick wall maybe 100 years ago (which was very common back then).

A few years ago we had a smoke shield alarm system installed in one of our branches after two very expensive loses after break in’s and having thousands of pounds worth motor cycle clothing stolen.
When our insurance company were informed we were instructed to remove the smoke system as it was a Heath and Safety issue, we were told that if a thief hurt themselves because they could’nt see “ what he/ she was stealing” we could be sued !
We live in a mad world.

Only in the UK ???

Some Travis Perkins building supplies have high voltage fencing topping
Loads around if you look and some caravan dealers and stockists have other systems equally has good
Very good multi system around the new vehicle storage area seen from M5 at bristol
Not disclosing anything with this answer that cannot been seen
Now the underground high security systems totally different

Yep totally true smoke cloak

Hi all
I have not been there for some time I'm sure the problem will be remedy as quick as possible.
The Heras temporary fence is just that? and is mainly to start op pedestrians wandering into areas you keep them out of while work is taking place.
But just to clear up the electric fence.
As said it's 12/24volts AC and gives you shock the same as an ignition lead same type of technology.
Generally you would not fit on top of palisade or paladin fence as there is finger holes or areas you can grip that enable you to climb it.
Nowadays it is used more on the what's called prison mesh you can see though it but can't climb it.
Usually it's used on top of a 2.4 metres to stop you touching with an extended are.
The best is a brick wall but very expensive.
And can be fitted to auto gate both leaf and slide.
Anti climb alarms on fencing is very problematic and generally has a very high false alarm rate due to wild life.
Most opt for pulnics or redwalls to trip the dome camera to that section and hold it from its patrol patten with an alarm for the operator.
On military insulation as they covers large areas you mormaly see chain link mesh with concrete Y top posts to stop you climbing from both sides.
Or it may be rota spikes that are 300mm long and can rotate both way independently again protects climbing from both side.
On prisons most have a fence inside a fence with rota spikes.
To help with packages been thrown over.
And then don't forget we have to put sighs to let you know you are on camera and the fence is electric every two meters.

In the 50`s. Bloke got time for wiring a Steel plate to the mains. He was trying to stop people "pissing up his yard wall!!. Imagine that? Makes the eyes water guys?

Some years ago I heard a Chief Constable say, on Radio Four, that any criminal who hurt him/herself on erected defences whilst engaging in criminal activity was 'The Author of their own misfortune'.
I wonder if he still has a job...

And that's how it should be in my book! Similarly if they are caught inside someone else's house on the rob then if they get a beating or are injured then that's tough as well. Murder takes it too far unless its legitimate self defence!

You're not actually serious are you?

Used to install Smoke Cloak and Smoke Screen systems. The smoke machines had to be installed in a position that gave the thieves a chance to get out before being enveloped in smoke . When these things went off you could not see your hand in front of your face within 30 seconds.
