I have been running "Lastpass" for a few years now and been generally very happy with what it. Just had my renewal reminder and its now $36 a year. which is no small amount and has jumped in price significantly. so i am balking at it at the moment.

i also use Norton web security which includes a password manager in the package which i do not use. at the moment!

would be interested in what others use and thier costs and practical / easy use.

i gave up my " black book"! a while ago...... :xblush:

trouble is theses days,,,, so many log ins , and if you want to be reasonably secure.... all different passwords.......

I used to use Roboform, which was pretty good, but now I just use the built in manager in the Chrome browser, which syncs across all of my devices.

I use KeePass (portable version). Open source so free.
Very easy to use. One master password to be remembered (to open the database).
You can set it up to backup it's database to various locations on the computer every time you close (or manually) so if the "live" version gets lost \ corrupted it's easy to restore.
You can get it to generate individual passwords based on a number of criteria, eg lower \ upper case, numbers, symbols, etc up to a huge amount of characters.
Used it for a number of years now with no issues.

i am in 2 minds to cancel my premium subs at $36 and stick with the free version.

just done a quick review of the diferences and i dont / have not used any of the premium add ons. and the only one i am likely to want is the "emergency access "!

Wow.... all this sounds complicated..... glad I dumped the old steam laptop and got an iPad seems cheaper in the long run...?

I didn't Google it - just read this thread!
you dont need to google it..

i assume you get other adds while on the forum site... "google is watchin you ,,,,,,, :xeek::xeek:"

adblocker needed

If 100% true, then very interesting.. Would like to know if that heppens to anyone else, as that would indicate something very suspicious going on with the forum software.

i am just messing really about google, but i am sure Jim could tell us if there is some sort of link. or just maybe Janine has some sort of non intentional "add on " that pushes stuff at her..

Lenny HB i have just relooked at the key differences and cancelled my subscription which was good vale at $12 a year when i took it out. $36 no chance...

Last Pass for years but haven’t checked cost lately. I will now though. Might be a faff though with hundreds of em.

1Password seems to work well.
Paid a small amount several years ago for the app and use it on everything, Mac’s, IPad and phone.
So far I haven’t had to pay anything more.

Richard.

Another Keepass user, use on Windows and Android, it can autofill but have not used the feature.

Syncs across all devices by storing encrypted file on Drive (other storage systems supported).

Used it for years no problems.

I stared using the free version of LassPass when it was mentioned by Gromett a while back and have done so ever since, it meets all of my requirements and I an use it on any pc/laptop/tablet/phone I wish.

I pay for the pro version of lastpass because it supports Webauthn and FIDO 2 factor so I can protect it with my yubikey.
Even if the master password gets out somehow, they can't get to my password databank because of 2FA.

I take security very seriously, because I have access to lots of clients servers. If I get hacked it is not just my data at risk but many companies as well. Also a reason I am not on windows and have my browser locked down tighter than a whatsit.
