Many years towing and Moho since 2004, presently Adria Coral 690SP Platinum.
My sister in law has a Compass Avantgarde 115.

Now when hooked up to electric the leisure battery is charged up but strangely not the engine battery.

This seems strange to me as all my motorhomes have had the facility whereby both leisure and engine batteries are charged while on mains hook-up.

Is this a 'feature' of this model or is there a fault somewhere.
Any ideas please ta.

Brian,

Not so strange on my van the Vehicle battery is only charged on hook up when the control panel is switched to use the vehile battery to power the 12v in the habitation area.

Maybe the Compass is the same.

We have an avantgarde 150 and it won't charge the van battery whatever you do with the switches, but why would you want it to , nothing uses it in the hab area.

No but if the engine battery is flat you can't start the engine with a habitation battery can you.

Why would your engine battery be flat unless it was knackered, but you could always use jump leads from your hab battery if in emergency.

Btw , I'm surprised someone hasn't come up with b2b which is a device that you can connect your batterys together to keep them both topped up , quite pricy but they are available in Jims shop.
Edit, someone has !

Doesn't the B2B charge the leisure batteries and require the engine to be running to do so, battery master will sit between the two batteries and connect to the starter battery when the leisure batteries have a higher charge, for example when on EHU charger.

The initial query was, is this model supposed to charge the engine and leisure battery at the same time while on hook up. If it is then there is a fault somewhere as this is not happening.
I know about B2B charging etc but that is not the issue.

As long as you don't leave it more than 2 - 3 weeks it will be fine any longer and you are pushing your luck especially if you have alarms and trackers fitted.
