Can anyone advise if the load assist button is on or off when the E is displayed next to Auto on the display? I dont have the Gearbox supplement and the only one I can see on line is referring to the Up Button.

I've never bothered with it and as I've never seen an "E" illuminated then I'm sure the answer above is correct. :)

If on a steep hill such as a pass I just put it in manual and choose the gears in the old fashioned way. Both going up and coming down. :)

Thanks for the replies - I have always had it on!
I normally just let it do its own thing on hills apart from sometimes changing up when going downhill.
Will run with it off from now on (we tend to be 3320kgs in holiday mode so dont think I need it on?)

I've experimented with it many times and have come to the firm conclusion that it does....absolutely nothing (n)

E? mine has the same symbol as on the switch, it's on when lit. You have to select it each time after starting the engine as it turns off with the ignition.

I find it works really well, holds the gear much longer before changing up and when desending holds in a low gear longer I use it a lot. The heavier the van the better it works.

Yes, no E but the symbol, lights up Lenny but it does seem to do nothing...? I know my way around mechanics and would definitely be aware of the slightest difference, I tested many times and have left it on straight after start-up for hours and no difference...?

Won't notice much difference unless you are on a mountian, and if you are running your van at 3500kg it won't make much odds but when you get up to 4000kg it is very noticeable.

I'm 4250kg but probably running at 3900-4000kg (haven't got the wine onboard yet) and it was when I went over the Swiss alps in may that I gave it a good testing and as said no discernible change..:(

Ps. I've got a 2012 B544 2.3 150bhp comformatic

I'm seriously thinking on getting it re-mapped when I get back home..

We run around 3900kg with a 150 Comformatic, on theExsis running at 3600kg didn't notice a lot of difference on the new van a marked difference. Maybe they have changed the software and new ones work a lot better.

But on the roads of France I've calculated that I'm getting around 28mpg brim-brim.... no tolls (I don't do them) and in no hurry 55-60mph which I think is pretty good...:D2

Ours has an E next to the gear number also a symbol on the bottom of the speedo opposite the cruise control light.
I use the up switch all the time 3.0 180 tag once set it stays on even when the engine is stopped and restarted it does hold the gear longer which suits my driving style also the van is 5000kg.

Just remember.
The "R" on the Gearstick does not mean 'Race' when you are trying to outgun the Sportscar that's in the outside lane at the traffic lights.

I use the "up" button quite often, now that I am more familiar with the Comfortmatic box. Otherwise it changes up too early for my tastes, and feels like it is labouring in too high a gear up most hills. On flatter roads I turn it off again for (I hope) better economy.

I haven't noticed the "E", only the green symbol.
