Comfort are rubbish
As a current insurance broker 30 years in industry I can say Comfort are fantastic. I had a claim last year and they and Aviva were faultless.
I know it helps it's a specialist policy but if other insurers could offer the same service it would my job much better.

Am currently in France and yesterday received a phone call from Comfort reminding me that my insurance with them expires on the 3rd August.
I told her where I was and that I would renew it when I got back to the UK on Monday, she said that it was not a problem and that I could renew it then on the phone.
Renewals are fine. New policies are the problem.
To be totally fair, she did go and ask her manager if she could go ahead, as I told her I would be returning 7 days after the start date. But he apparently said it was no go.

Just changed from caravan guard they wanted £840 comfort £428 same cover apart from euro and UK breakdown which would have been additional £61 but we have this covered with fiat asist.

It all goes to prove its horses for courses. Everyone’s opinion is equally valid and that is the value of multiple reviews. I had a very bad experience with the agent when I was trying to get a price versus hundreds of satisfied customers.

Been with Comfort for a good few years now for Motorhome insurance. Getting a very good annual renewal price as compared with elsewhere and, as others have stated, this holds year on year. (Only going up very slightly due to Government controlled, annual increases to IPT. Grrrrr.)
However, by far the main thing for me is that I also have my fully comprehensive car insurance via Comfort. Comfort are the only insurer I could find that will provide fully comprehensive cover for the car while it is being towed on the trailer behind the Motorhome. (This is also applicable to A frame towing, I’m advised.) The only requirement is that both vehicles need to be insured with Comfort. Strangely, going direct with Aviva for the car will not provide such cover. (For those who may be unaware, all Comfort vehicle insurance is backed up by Aviva.) With some insurers, whilst it is being transported on the trailer, the car would not be insured at all - with others, it would be 3rd Party only. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a no-brainer.

I hope you will excuse me for highjacking this thread slightly but I'm insured through Adrian Flux, and have been for a number of years with my two T25 VW. This year I purchased a Murvi Morello which I added to my VW's insurance and, when they all came up for renewal last month, I proceeded to insure them all again with AF on a combined policy.
When double checking the policies I was VERY surprised to find that NO green card was included this year on the VeeDubs (in past years these have been issued without request) and only 30 days European cover has been issued on the Murvi.
When I queried this with AF I was informed that I was only covered for 30 days in the next 12months but I could extend this at an extra cost.
Is this normal practice or should I move a dedicated Motorhone insurer?

Not sure if Adrian Flux are underwritten by Aviva, but Comfort (who are) have introduced quite a stiff charge for the issue of a Green Card, based on how long you need it for, rather than just an admin charge. When I queried this I was told Arriva had introduced it.

Again strange logic - has anybody noticed a sudden increase in insured risks in Morocco? Or is it their way of screwing more money out of the punter. Has AF jumped on the bandwagon I wonder?

I think AF are just brokers. The company I'm insured with is Markerstudy.
Correct and watch out for the AF admin charge.
Parents renewal was £337 inc a £100 admin fee by AF.!!!
AF also advised would only insurer for the purchase price and not market value.
So if you got a steal like my parents did with their new van recently it will be underinsured.

She's now moved to NFU

As it turned out, I then searched further and found a better deal on Caravan Guard anyway, so they probably did me a favour!
We changed to Caravan Guard from Safeguard (Swinton) as the premium was better for the same cover. However we feel the Breakdown Cover has let them down. They don't seem keen on roadside diagnosing of issues - just want to recover us to a garage once in UK and then in France(we have broken down twice in the 2 weeks we have had the van). Safeguard used the RAC and they managed to sort a couple of issues we had previously at the roadside/home.

I believe Comfort are also only a broker. Aviva are the insurer, although they will only issue their motorhome insurance policies via Comfort.

I've just received my renewal notice from Comfort, and very happy. Although IPT has increased from 10% to 12%, my premium has increased by 0.8% over last year, so effectively is lower - a first for any insurance in my experience, since the heady days many years ago when I turned 25 and the insurance for my 3-litre Capri dropped substantially!

Contrast that with my car insurance. 2 years ago I was with Saga. I changed my car and they went from £190 to £378 on renewal, so after phoning them and getting no reduction I went elsewhere. Been getting new quotes as it is again due for renewal next month, and Saga are now quoting me £166. If they can do that now, why couldn't they do it 12 months ago? Nothing in my circumstances has changed at all.

I tried to insure my 1st motorhome with Comfort today as I have heard some good stuff about them.
I called them up and said I wanted dual location (home and storage), not a problem. Unfortunately they were unable to insure me as my storage site did not meet their requirements.
Whilst I was unable to get insurance with them, I will not hold that against them. They answered the phone quickly (unlike someone else I tried to get a quite from), they were polite, helpful and made it sound like they knew what they were talking about. Should my storage situation change, I will definitely give them another go.

I am with the caravan club I have had two claims and have no complaints service very good, the first one was in the cab when the loom caught fire, and the last one was when we were in Spain and a lorry hit me when i was parked on the hard shoulder with a puncture. You can only tell if your insurance is any good is when you make a claim and how you are dealt with.

Great to hear they have been so good as that is who I ended up going with.
