This very subject came up on "Fun" quite recently and we (the Funsters ) could not come up with a definitive answer as to what constitutes a camper van as opposed to a moho.!!!Why can't the reporters learn what is a 'campervan' and what is a 'motorhome'!
I think it's pretty obvious from the photos that it ain't no van ... in any sense of the word! This very subject came up on "Fun" quite recently and we (the Funsters ) could not come up with a definitive answer as to what constitutes a camper van as opposed to a moho.!!!
Serious question. Why does it matter? Why can't the reporters learn what is a 'campervan' and what is a 'motorhome'!
A more accurate description, what if your coachbuilt MH was stolen but the Police listed it generically as a campervan (ie just with the original body)... would they look for a 'van' type conversion or a coachbuilt ...Serious question. Why does it matter?
“thinking”. ? Don’t be silly! What the hell were they thinking???
To me it is simple. Does it have a fixed toilet? Motorhomes do and campervans don't. That is what I tell my son who has an early VW Campervan which he can't c**p inThis very subject came up on "Fun" quite recently and we (the Funsters ) could not come up with a definitive answer as to what constitutes a camper van as opposed to a moho.!!!
Well mine is a motorhome with the original body of a PVC but does it matter?A more accurate description, what if your coachbuilt MH was stolen but the Police listed it generically as a campervan (ie just with the original body)... would they look for a 'van' type conversion or a coachbuilt ...
Perhaps if we the owners aren't sure, the clubs aren't sure, the manufacturer's aren't sureWhy can't the reporters learn what is a 'campervan' and what is a 'motorhome'!
In Europe they are all referred to as Campervan's or (in France) Camping Cars. Why can't the reporters learn what is a 'campervan' and what is a 'motorhome'!
I hate to tell you this but if it doesn't flag up on PNC its unlike likely they will be looking that hard if there is not a tracker it is good fortune if a police car happens to pass it in transit.A more accurate description, what if your coachbuilt MH was stolen but the Police listed it generically as a campervan (ie just with the original body)... would they look for a 'van' type conversion or a coachbuilt ...
I agreeI call my camper, Van, (PVC) we called the 6 birth and 4 birth coach built 'campers', If a roses were not called a rose would it smell so sweet.
I think that you will find that most people that do no indulge in camping on wheels have no idea of the difference in the descriptions,, you can call it what ever you like
I can remember the good old days when if you broke down in a large vehicle the fitters wanted to know what engine/make but the breakdown crew were more interested in the colour / livery as it is was easier to spot.
I drive a car, do not feel the need to describe it with make and model. I messaged my friend yesterday to say 'I will be using the car not the van' the need to state type make model etc was unnecessary
Vans are like your children you can call them what you like..
Your question presupposes that they were actually thinking .What the hell were they thinking???
Perhaps we should move over to calling them all Camping Vans .In Europe they are all referred to as Campervan's or (in France) Camping Cars.
And we refer to our motorhome as "the van". My daily driver is a VW T5 and I call that "me car" and my lorry I call "me motor". I think the journo got his point across no matter what he called itJust to add confusion ... having had 3 campers prior to our Carthago we sill refer to it as a camper!
I’ve seen 40 tonners on the beach at Barra, not to mention aeroplanes...I'd never drive onto sand, never mind the water
Parking by Exmouth seafront nearest the rail station, my partner commented on a ‘Camper van’ parked on the sand, despite a large sign at the head of the slipway clearly showing not to park on the sand.
