I spent Mon-Tue cleaning the inside of the motorhome, Wednesday the outside and today my order of Collinite 476S Super double coat auto wax arrived as recommended by @Charlie & @FJmike (y) Thanks guys i am over the moon with the wax and end finish:party2: well nearly the end as having started at 11.30 and finishing at 15.00hrs my arms couldn't manage one side of the van closest to the wall:( will do that side tomorrow(y)

Phone camera doesn't do it justice but the wax finish is SUPERB and easy to wipe on wipe off, I felt like the karate kid all afternoon:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Think you deserve it after those efforts this weeks, looks really good.
That collinite wax is on my shopping list for when the weather improves.
Need moss killer for the roof first

In fact I'm gonna order it now, it's been in my basket for weeks and you never know when we're going to get a bit of decent weather.

Ready for that fight then Rob

It's slightly ironic that I the person who loves Detailing comes from a long Martial Arts background.... Brittish Super heavyweight champion back in the day :) yet never crossed the sport with polishing preferring a machine :D:D

Polishing and waxing is not only good for our vehicles but the workout gentle though it is is good for us..... :D2

Out of interest, can you get nylon brush heads to fit it, and if so, how are they attached to the polishing heads?

Don't know about nylon brush heads, but I've got various ones that fit on by Velcro, lambs wool ones etc.
Hope that helps

Did you have any problems with applying the Polish as the instructions refer to a minimum temperature of 55 Fahrenheit for application.

No problem at all, just kept an even amount of wax each time and coated small areas then removed almost immediately.

I think Collinite was developed in America to put on the connectors on the overhead cables.
But I may be wrong :) still good stuff though.

Nearly.... 476S was always an automotive wax but Colinite have a wax called 845 insulator wax which is the one you are thinking about. It's a liquid wax and very good but does not have the long durability of 476S.

Did you have any problems with applying the Polish as the instructions refer to a minimum temperature of 55 Fahrenheit for application.

Colinite should be applied then removed as quickly as you can. Do one panel at a time or say half a bonnet.

Tips.

Apply as thinly as you can ! To much simply wastes wax and makes it a bugger to remove. Less really is more in this case.

On colder days drop the tin into a bucket of warm water to soften it. Or maybe leave the tin on a radiator for a few minutes. You want it soft though so not for long !

Use a soft foam applicator for a fast even spread of wax

Apply using a damp cloth or foam applicator as above . This will not dilute the wax or affect the long durability. The water aids application then evaporates leaving the wax on the panel.

If it's hard to remove use Detailing spray and a soft microfibres.

Don't worry to much about temperatures. If it goes on and comes off the jobs a gud un ..

I would rather wax on a cold day than a hot one. Both are easily doable though using the right method..

What would you use nylon for ?

Looking for mini nylon brush heads to use on non-slip decking as my large heads can be hard to control around the bright work so end up having to spend a lot of time masking up and protecting the deck fittings in case the head drags the polisher into them.

I've said this before on threads here on the forum but will say it again for those who have missed those threads.

Colinite has a unique blend in its makeup. The important one is it's great resistance to detergent based products that are found in the shampoos we use on our vehicles. It is these properties that give the wax it's long durability. I could go very technical but it would get boring.

When on the Detailing circuit where I did machine polishing demos ( my speciality) we did extensive tests aimed at really seeing which waxes had the durability their manufacturers claimed. Few lived up to those claims. In fact the most expensive waxes were amongst the worst ! Colinite is very very cheap so a win win !

Long durability means less applications which given the size of our MHs means another win .... So here on MHF we have invented the win win win ?

@Charlie , Hi Charlie, I thought you had an article on detailing in the resources section I can't find it, any chance you could give a link please.
Lenny there are many guides in the detailing section covering quite a range of topics. Some written by me some written by @FJ mike who is the respected expert on motor homes and the hugely variable surfaces on our vehicles.

I come from a largely car background so I can be a little limited on some aspects of Motorhomes though I have a reasonable bit of product knowledge from testing when I was a technical author on the subject.

What is it you are looking at specifically? There are topics covering most things but I'm happy to fill in any gaps if possible.
