Just had a chat with me OLD mate JJ in Portugal and he tells me he is just putting his socks on to go out. I did tell him that an Armani suit and loafers were perfectly acceptable without socks, but he was having none of it. My father used to say he felt the cold as he got older :winky:.

My people want me to clarify emphatically that socks were worn last night due to the wearing of smart(ish) clothes for a visit to a very nice theatre and NOT because it was cold.

Wandering back through the beautiful university city of Coimbra after the performance I encountered many Saturday night youth out enjoying themselves. No screaming, fighting or vomiting. Just enjoyment.

And most of them were wearing socks.

My father always told me that an English Gentleman NEVER takes off his socks... EVER.

what a difference to the uk. we went to the steam 40s weekend last night.
socks definately worn for the cold.
los of youths drunk. luckily no trouble though.
Some hanging around tesco in Kidderminster when we popped out to have a look at the town.
Feel a little unerved, not like in Portugal, felt very safe new years eve there.
