Wonder if anyone can help?
bought a new (to us) 2015 Bürstner, the dealer has fitted a new airbag ECU as the previous one had a fault.
problem is, it needs coding to the vehicle and they don’t have the kit to do it.
they’ve tried to book it in to a local Fiat workshop but it will be a couple of weeks before they can fit it in. we were hoping to get away next week whilst it’s still half term. ☹️
the dealer won’t release the van to us until it’s sorted, as it’s a safely issue. Does anyone know of someone near Mansfield who can recode it? Clutching at straws now, as half term is looking like we’re going to be stuck at home…

Have you tried CamperUK in Lincoln or Motus Commercial in Derby? Both are Fiat Professional dealers.

I know how disappointing it is but you are best to let the dealer get it proxy aligned and get it sorted, rather than take it elsewhere.
If a problem arises, it’s their problem and not yours.

Fiats are a bit of a bugger with this problem! Hope you get it done soon.

All the very best Kev

the dealer would be happy for us to suggest somewhere, I think he’s as frustrated as we are! Obvs, won’t complete the sale until it’s sorted. I’ll try camper uk and Motus, thanks.

Does it need to be a Fiat workshop, or can others do it?

I have the airbag light issue at present so been doing a lot of reading up. Somewhere today I have read of an owner somewhere in the north east who used a local auto electrician. They need to have the right software. Multiecuscan seems to be mentioned a lot.

Anyone with the correct software (both fiat and Bosch SW will work ) to proxy alight the Ecu to your van.
Personally I would let the dealer sort it as you should get 12 months or 2 years warranty which you may need as they go wrong a lot.
Get warranty in writing 😉👍

I'm sorry, we're in France at the moment so haven't got access to our records.
We had the problem, last summer, just before our MOT.
We had a mobile auto electrician who came and sorted it for us. He had all the equipment. We think it was Darren from Parsons in Walsall, but can't be 100 per cent sure.
It got us through the MOT and and a 3,000 mile Continental trip. The only problem was that it failed again, in January 😐.
This time, we had a new one fitted.
I can't be sure it was Parsons, but they may be worth a call.

ok, good to know. Yes the dealer is going to sort it, and pay for it! I’m just trying to find a quicker solution, as their workshop Is booked up for 2 weeks.

Silly enough, you could do it yourself. You need a bit of software called multiecuscan and a set of leads available on ebay. The software is £50, The cables about £25. The proxi realignment takes a few minutes.

Thanks, I’ll call him tomorrow. Glad you got sorted! 😊

Try doing an internet search for a mobile car diagnostic service near you, they can code the airbag ecu to the van, I think it’s called a proxy alignment.

I’ve found someone! a mobile auto electrician, he’s going there tomorrow to sort it, hopefully we can then drive away and get some time away during half term.
dealer will pay for it obviously, and better than waiting another 2 weeks!

Good luck.
Let us all know the outcome.

It should only take 30 mins tops to install and reprogramme via the obd port. Doesn't need to be on a ramp or anything.
