I have the Car Version, with the whole of Europe maps. It does have different routing profiles. Car, Motorhome, Motorcycle etc

What are the advantages of the dedicated Co-Pilot Caravan Europe over this version?

Hi Jim

The caravan version is completely different maps and different user interface so it means you have to "learn again" the other main difference is that you can put in specific size and weight and set up multiple profiles rather than just generic car, bike, motorhome.

I had the previous "car" version and prefer the dedicated "caravan" for both its features and user interface.

As Martin has said both the truck and the caravan version are a different league, the caravan version came out only recently and I have had the Truck version for about 4 years now. In today's world I would just get the caravan version its cheaper and gives more specific focus on our needs, however as far as I can tell the road preference profiling is still the same as truck which is the key element in my consideration. They have stabilised POI management now and its a doddle to import the prevalent OV2 (TomTom) files now rather than messing with csv files.

Just looking at buying the caravan GPS version of Co pilot tonight, its telling me there is a 50% discount at present taking cost to £14.95 is this correct?, or is that the normal price?
Thanks for any help, just wondering what it normally costs and is that a good deal or not.

Its showing as £29.99 on their web site for me and that is discounted from £49.99 so at £14.95 would be a bargain in my book, I paid a lot more a few years back, full price most likely.

I use the car version and it's a shame you can't upgrade to the caravan version.

I upgraded to the Caravan version a couple of months ago and paid £34.95 for the full Europe version. The UK only version is cheaper and is probably what is offered for £14.95.
As someone said you can set up different profiles which is quite useful.
We are 4.5 tonnes so often get routed away from 3.5 tonne limits around large towns, even if they refer to trucks only. So I have set another profile that has the vans dimensions, height etc, but is set at 3.9 tonnes. That keeps us away from low bridges but gives me the choice to go through towns like Orleans which has lots of truck restrictions.

Unlike my Garmin the Co-Pilot on an iPad is lightning fast at plotting a route. I like it a lot.

Richard.

We have used the Caravan Version for 2 years, it does what we expected it to do, however some of its routes are a little on the long side, where a shorter unrestricted route was available.
On a 10 inch tablet its a good piece of kit.....

Newbie to motorhomes but lots of classic VW and camping experience
I bought my first Android CoPilot version 8 years ago (CoPilot Live 8) and never had to pay for an upgrade on all versions since for what I think is a great Sat Nav system esp for places with no mobile signal that rivals like Google Maps often need. I recently got the caravan version and on a few small tests in the UK it seems to be another step up in terms of functionality etc and having the ability to enter my motorhome dimensions in gives me one less thing to worry about. I will try and do a blog post on it in a few months time when I have used it in Europe too but it's easily worth the full price for full European offline maps and keeping you clear of low bridges etc (y)

I upgraded to the Caravan-Motorhome version just a few months ago.

One thing I have noticed in the planning stage is how low bridges flash in Map-Mode. I was always impressed with the old one, the new one is reassuringly better.

Love copilot caravan on a ipad, its very fast and keeps up, as in if you pass under a motorway bridge (as a marker) it is smack on.
Dont get me started on the tomtom caravan satnav I got at £300, what a load of sh*t

I run a co pilot caravan alongside the Garmin caravan but if they differ I always defer to the co pilot, Garmin would have sent me on some unsuitable roads at times, but at the end of the day, common sense must prevail:rolleyes:
