Had a call from Bristol. Cancelled our booking for after Christmas. Seems CMC are closing sites.
I was going to cancel anyway. Cancelled Minehead over the New Year too.

I guess we are heading for a national lockdown very soon.

Such a shame - Baltic Wharf is closing for good in May so there aren't going to be many opportunities to go there now. I have a few days booked in April but who knows whether I will get there

I just had a visit from the warden to tell me that all CMC sites will be closed effective 1200hrs 26th. Oh well...... now the fight to get my money back will begin

If that’s the case then I don’t see the point of the tier system. Unless it’s because so many areas are now tier 3 or 4 and it makes keeping the sites open in the lower areas unprofitable as nobody can visit them .

Just had a call myself from Meathop Fell site saying we can’t go for the new year as planned as we’re in tier 3 and Cumbria is in tier 2. Not a problem as we’ve sold the van!

Melrose is currently Tier 1 but moves to Tier 4, along with all of mainland Scotland, on 26th.

Same here. The warden said he was told “in line with government advice” but he didn’t really believe that anyway. I think it is probably a commercial decision but why Boxing Day?

Very strange decision for them to make . I wonder if affiliated sites will be included ?

First we cancelled Lady Margaret Park for New Year - we thought the chances of getting into Wales were slim .
Then we managed to book Moreton in Marsh, hoping that we'd come out of Tier Three, which didn't happen - so had to cancel that, too.
It'll be the first time we've spent New Year at home, in the 10 years that we've had a van.
Last New Year was the Fun Rally at Shrewsbury. We had a brilliant time.
Good job I've been panic buying booze in Aldi, today. We'll need something strong to see in 2021.

We have just been told the same by the warden, currently in Littlehampton. We are full-timers so its a bloody scramble now to find somewhere to live for a while unless CMC relent and allow us to stay longer.

Called CMC and all its sites to close on 26th at midday. We are awaiting a call from their team to see if there is a process to help those who are full-timers!!!

Try Love2stay in Shrewsbury . To answer my own question above they will not be closing . Quite expensive but good size pitches and even have black waste disposal on every pitch so good at this time of year .

Not only CMC sites, we were booked into Uphill Wharf for the New Year. Got a cancellation message on Sat evening. So from potentially using the van for 5 days over Christmas & New year its all unpacked and winterised again now. Plan B will be stripping plastics off the motorbike & giving it a service.

It's no wonder members have difficulty getting pitches on CMC sites.
How long ago did you sell your van?
Why didn't you cancel your booking?

No it’s not but if you don’t have a van it’s selfish to have a pitch booked period. Up to you though. Announcing you don’t have a van but a pitch on a forum where people can’t book pitches. Sorry but you must expect some ruffled feathers
