For the thread to be useful to anyone else I still need to know what engine how many miles and is it comfortmatic or not? otherwise its just a beef about the cost thread.

Glad I'm in France

I've been given a price less than half that and for a comfortmatic.

There should be a proper FIAT Workshop time and costing for the Job. Ask a FIAT professional dealer and they should be able to quote the manufacturers time costs.
