CMC alway over the well over the top on health and safety , high standard but a bit like staying in a military camp . CCC more relaxed but not a high standard . I am a member of both but If i had to give up one it would be CMC

an example of what i have found is , at reception being told i had not stopped on the waiting line and being told to pull forward two feet to the line to wait , petty or what !! . Being told i was a foot the wrong site of the peg and asked to move after setting up . Health a safety notices all over the site , I have seen a sign saying "when walking on the dog walk grass beware of rabbit burrows ! . The power of a CAMC high viz jacket is not to be questioned !

The peg location is there for fire safety and insurance purposes, the health and safety signs for similar reasons or because of previous incidents. As for the waiting line I think you may have yielded too easily, I for one would have told them not to be ridiculous and carried on regardless.

Common sense can go out of the window when you need a sign telling you you the gress can be slippery !!

Just dont even think of wandering into a CMC site to enquire if there are any pitches available:eek:, especially 15 minutes before the arrival time deadline.:eek::eek:
You will be asked "Have you Booked" then told to park behind the entry barrier until the large hand on the clock states 1PM, most sites are 12AM arrival ,but not as we discovered at Cheddar, its 1PM  wardens state "Its clearly mentioned on our website" whilst muttering something under their breath like....bloody numpty!
We were made to feel lucky, that they had done us a tremendous favour on this occasion to be offered a pitch for one night, as they were fully booked "Impossible" they said without a booking, initially, but not so when they checked the system and discovered two free pitches.
That was it! the straw that broke the camels back, indie sites only for us, & Fun rallies of course(y)
Agree they are not clubs, they are businesses, prices go up every year, and they are more geared for caravans than MH's but that is I believe changing slowly for the better.
Read their top tips on making your CMC stay "more affordable", stay midweek, yes!, dont stay at busy periods like school holidays and BH's Yes! .....Book a non electric pitch...YES! That's what I want save some dosh, we dont need an EHU we are self sufficient(y), then you find out there are only 12 sites in the whole of the UK that offer non electric pitches:mad:
Dogs get in free, and "we have lovely dog walks to exercise them", but the Mrs is charged, and is now fed up hiding in the wardrobe, so we cant go anymore:giggle:
Cheap & cheerful, for singles though, you may even meet a few people, thats if your caravan neighbours are not jealous of your shiny new MH:whistle2:

We're members of both as they both have good sites in locations that we visit a lot. We have never come across any wardens in either of the clubs that have been anything other than friendly, helpful and polite. There are certainly 'rules' reminding everyone of any hazards and the expected behaviour, but we find this oddly reassuring as it also means that we have never had an instance where we have been kept up till two in the morning by groups of inconsiderate folk shouting and playing music on the next pitch which we have experienced on some independent sites.

We were on a CAMC last year and there was a problem with guys playing loud music. The warden soon put a stop to it!

Oooh I've started something now!
There have been many such debates around the clubs (businesses) issue. Just remember that the one thing we have in common is that we use vehicles to sleep in. Some group members want manicured lawns, luxurious shower blocks and regimented sites and others prefer a field or parking space with no facilities. Some have had terrible experiences on sites and will condemn them forever, others had perfect hosting every visit.

We especially like the CLs, some of our favourite sites are CLs without any facilities. Even when full there are only four other vans there, which suits us.

I would say the Caravan and Camping club site at keswick has consistently won the title for most rude, arrogant, obnoxious, petty, cloutable wardens in the country. I think you have to be a semi retarded nacissist to get a job there. Mind you, I haven't been there for a few years.

C&CC. Their Temporary Holiday Sites (THS) that the local associations run all through the spring, summer and autumn (not this year though!) are very useful when touring round and very good value. Very informal with limited facilities, usually just water and grey and black dumps, but that suits us because we prefer using our motorhome's facilities rather than sharing toilets and showers with a site load of other people.

We do too, can't believe they cancelled all the July THS. It's the perfect type of social distance camping 🙄

Interestingly, their other site next door (Derwent water) is smaller, doesn't have tents, apart from a few glamping set ups, and the wardens there are great. at least I hope thy still are as we're off in a couple of weeks to stay there again.

We are members of both. We have never had an issue with either and, when we came out of the Tunnel at Folkestone with a trailer that needed to be recovered, the C&CC Site at Folkestone managed to accommodate us, overnight, even though we hadn’t booked and they were full.

We find that the Age Concession with C&CC means that we tend to use them more than the C&MC, but we like both.

Not mentioned frequently is the availability of 180 cover for travel insurance through C&CC, as well as “house empty “ home insurance cover.
