Hi Emmit, rather than starting a new thread, can I ask whether it's worth joining Club Voyage for 2 sailings from Portsmouth to Santander a year please? Or for any other useful information you have...? Many thanks in advance.

I save more than the annual fee with one crossing. I would definitely recommend it for two! The first year will be higher than renewal years but you will still save money.

First of all, to join Club Voyage Spain, there is a Joining fee of about £125, and then a membership of £125 a year (First year on top of the joining fee.

Dependant upon the journey time of year, you get the following discount (assuming you join the scheme now. (The below is for people who joined after Nov. 2021)

Low7 Nov 2022–30 Mar 202330%
Mid12 Sep–6 Nov 2022, 31 Mar–22 Jun 2023 & 11 Sep–5 Nov 202310%
High24 Jun–11 Sep 2022 & 23 Jun-10 Sep 20235%

Low7 Nov 2022–30 Mar 202315%
Mid5 Sep–6 Nov 2022, 31 Mar–13 July 2023 & 4 Sep–5 Nov 20235%
High15 Jul–4 Sep 2022 & 14 Jul–3 Sep 20230%

In Addition if you give your code to a non member and they obtain a discount, the following applies
  • For members who joined on or after 16 November 2021, discounts are limited to 8 bookings per membership (a maximum credit accruable £80 per annum, allocated when you renew your membership)

There are other perks but they relate to vouchers for meals.
Obviously, the earlier you book a trip invariably the cheaper it is but the only real way to find out if it would be beneficial to you would be to make some phantom bookings and manually apply the discounts and balance that against the joining/annual membership.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks, I'll go for it then. One more question please, do you just need one membership if 2 adults travelling, or does each passenger need to be a club member?

No, just one membership covers you, yours, and all the 'friends' you'll have.

Thanks for the extra info, didn't see it before my earlier 2nd question.

By one crossing, do you mean one journey or a return and, did you join before or after Nov 21?

It seems that the only way for a post Nov.21 joiner to get the same discount as before is to make the trip in Winter.

That bit that I have highlighted above assumes they're with you on the trip and on the booking.

The 'Friends' you have that aren't with you but are given the code, don't get the 30% in Winter. They get up to 10% and you get a Tenner, up to a maximum of you giving your friends eight times in any one year.

Yes a long time before 21 and a return trip!

At £60 a year now I believe, peak sailing you would have to spend £1200 on the crossing so yes if you are post 21 you would need to do more than one return trip! However for any other time it is surely worth it. Especially if you are overnight in a cabin, food discounts etc.

Let's hope they don't change the old system for us pre 21s! 🤞

The "£60" a year is now £75, plus the same for joining. (and that's for France)

The overnight cabin is not part of Club Voyage but we make use of the Afternoon sailing to France, Morning back, free cabins.

I note in addition that by going over to the Euro rather than the Pound they have skimmed the value of the meal vouchers to a less value.

I suppose they a playing the 'Long Game' knowing us pre Nov 21's will fall off the perch and then the scheme won't be worth 7 10th's of Bu&&er all to the Post 21's.

Til' then, Happy days.

We have just looked into this and the membership and joining fee is now £90 each.
Time to do the sums for Christmas in Spain.
