Hello all
I feel this must have come up before, but I cannot find the definitive answer (if there is one!). My toilet bowl is starting to look slightly stained; what can I clean it with? Any advice greatly appreciated.
Kim

Mix up a paste of vanish or oxy type stain remover. Coat the stain and leave to work for an hour. This is why i use car wax to seal the plastic. Nothing sticks to allow staining

Would you think this would work just as good on a sink?
When we got zebedee few years ago, the sink alreAdy was stained, colour discoloration. 🤞

It will work on some staining, but be very careful what you use or put too much pressure on bathroom basins as they are super thin and can easily split or even crumble away

All purpose kitchen/toilet cleaning wipes, but try to use ones without bleaching agents if you can, as the bowl is plastic.

If you use a pump spray bottle with a Thetford pink mix in it, to spray the bowl rather than flush away your fresh water, it leaves a coating on the bowl thereby preventing staining. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Does the Pink liquid work with a cassette using bio tablets/powder.
We’ve stopped using the blue chemical and switched to bio tabs.
Just need to check we’re not messing that up spraying pink in the bowl

Yes Kev, I use Bio laundry tablets too and no problems.

When no Thetford pink, I use a Zoflora mix in the bottle, which although doesn't leave a coating on the bowl, it certainly leaves a nice fragrance in the toilet area. ;)

If limescale is on the bowl or on the sliding plate, a mild citric acid mix in the spray bottle instead, removes the scale over time, again, no known adverse reaction with bio tablets, whatever the spray fluid is. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Check what your basin made of first as cleaner ruined my hand basin. :(

White vinegar and Baking soda mixed to a fine paste paint onto plastic allow to sit for a while then lightly clean with soft brush.. Rinse.
Very often in a water environment scale will hold staining so it’s that you have to remove!
Use sprayed White Vinegar (B&Q) to remove scale from loo bowl and sink and taps, it will also deodorise a smelly carpet-use like Febreeze, cheaper!
White Vinegar will also remove stains from clothing and many other materials.

We use a spray bottle with a fairly strong dilution of ecover washing-up liquid. It smells good, coats the bowl nicely and doesn’t interfere with the enzyme action of the Elsan green or bio pods that we use in the cassette.

Ours started to show signs of slight staining. We use bio washing liquid (currently trying tabs but not so good) in the cassette. Following a tip to save water I've made up a slightly stronger solution of bio liquid in a spray bottle to use when we only need a light flush. The side effect was that over time the staining has disappeared.
And I don't need to fill up the water tank so often. Nor empty the cassette.
Win all round!

Hi Snoopy I considered using a Plastikote spray but when I went to B & Q they said there were different types and if you used the wrong one on the basin it would crack the existing finish and be awful.

Since I also would have struggled with the shade... A bluey grey silvery pale green :wondering: I decided to live with it.
