Yes, but any residue of white spirit not completely removed will likely cause your newly applied sealant not to adhere.
I do a final wipe over with IPA ( isopropyl alcohol) and let that evaporate off before applying sealant.

I don’t think so. If it’s silicone mastic it leaves a very slippery coating. I thing it’s best to use a proper silicone remover and then do it really thoroughly.
If it’s non-set adhesive/sealant I don’t know.

enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
the trick is to mask the area first, then when you remove the masking tape, there is no residue to clean off !!! consider using using black as opposed to white sealant, it doesnt discolour and go 'greeny mouldy' !!

Silicone and mastic are two different things. mastic will clean up with white spirit silicone needs silicone remover.

Wipe off the alcohol along with any residue, that way you will remove it. Letting it dry just leaves the residue there.

I have had no problem with the Screwfix sealant remover. I have used it on the factory painted roof of the Ducato PVC we had, and on our present Elddis roof finish, but that's no guarantee on your roof finish.
