After a 2 year lay off I have dragged my old gun out of its secure storage and decided I will go and try and shoot some clays . It’s not the best of days as it’s pouring down (making excuses all ready ) but will give it a go . Any one else on here does a bit of clay shooting ?. I am fairly sure no clays will be harmed in this session ?

I used to do a fair bit but sold all my guns a few years ago anticipating our move to France.
They seem to enjoy shooting real animals more over here, something I am not keen to get involved in.

I am the same not my cup of tea but each to their own I guess ?

I used to love shooting clays!

I went through a phase of small arms shooting too - everything from .22 and 38 specials to sterling submachine guns.

Sometimes my height - or lack of - handicapped me. Skeets would whizz past me below my line of sight if there was scrubland in the way ??

I would love to shoot a sub machine gun Janine but I think my local gun club might have something to say lol ,I had enough trouble with multi cartridge autos ?

They only let me fire single rounds but it was still a buzz ?

44 Magnum was awesome too although someone stood behind me to catch me when the recoil sent me staggering backwards!

We went to the USA a while ago visiting friends and was taken out to do a bit of shooting. The back of the van was like an arms dealers catalogue. We shot everything from .22 pistols, shotguns, sniper and assault rifles and a fantastically scary S&W .500 Magnum.
my arms still ache!

We both took it up about six or seven years ago but haven’t been for nearly two years. It’s a bit of a trek to the better of the two available grounds. Still got the guns and keep saying we must go as we enjoy it when we get there.
I have an MK70 and Liz has a Silver Pidgeon.
I bet we wouldn’t hit much now after such a long layoff.
Wonder if its legal to have a gun cabinet in your motorhome, a light weight one.

I went a few weeks back 1st time in a while, dusted off the 12 gauge and off I went
Had 100 clays don't think I hit 25 absolutely appalling obviously I need to go more often ???

Used to have a friend who ran the police range so one day I brought my Martini-Henry along. It was fun shooting a .450, can't imagine what it was like at Rorke's Drift! The SMLE was tame by comparison.

Did shoot clays in the UK before I hopped to the Middle East for 15 years. That was fun but took most of the day.....and I wasn't very good.

I used to clay shoot, wasn’t ever going to win any competitions.

Also used to rough shoot on a dairy farm for rabbit and the usual vermin.
That used to be a good day out wandering around the countryside ?

Its amazing how soon you loose your “eye “ practice is definitely the way forward ?

I like clay pigeon shooting. It means that you aren’t shooting ducks...... :Eeek:

I used to go to a few clay shoots in a previous life, always struck me as odd the guys dressed up in camo gear ??

what were they hiding from?................?

Spent my formative years from fourteen onwards spending my Sunday mornings loading clays, surprised I've still got any fingers left.

Done.
