whats the cut off year for seat belts if i bought a classic 60s split screen vw camper

They were an invention by Volvo, who patented it but were so convinced of its life-saving benefit that they let other manufacturers use it free of charge. In which year was the compulsory fitting of seat belts introduced? 1967. When did it become compulsory to wear a front seat belt, where fitted? 1983. In which year did it become mandatory for children under 14 to wear a seat belt in the rear of a car? 1989. When was the law extended to include adults in the back seat? 1991.[/FONT]
However, having been the victim of an RTA and being hospitalised for several months, while being in the passenger seat in a vehicle not fitted with seatbelts, I'd never travel without one on again.
