Hard to tell here with the prices they ask !Perhaps a good definition rather than just age would be when a vehicle starts to Appreciate rather than Depreciate.
He certainly is a good mechanic. just surprises me sometimes what low prices they sell for when the costs are high & there's hardly any profit !What a FAB thread this is! Thanks posters.
I love TV shows like "Wheeler Dealers" a bit cheesy, but what a mechanic that bloke is! Be great to see them restore a wreck of an MH.

Yes it does ...the previous owner used it for steam rallies too he said the only one that wouldn't accept it as not old enough was Lincoln. The Bedford should get you free entry to most shows, you could go as an entrant A mate of mine has a camper on a mk1 Transit chassis and gets invites from all over and gets lots of free weekends away.
the
I am pretty sure that it is now 40 years, so this year cars built before 1st Jan 1975 are exempt this year?

Try Cherished Cars but it may depend on how many miles you are expecting to do.
more to the point, when do the insurance companies class them as classic. I have old cars on classic insurance where they reckon 20yrs old and over, for as little as £69 yr and I had a 6 ton fire engine for £59 per year [3yrs ago], but nither of the firms I deal with for classic insurance can accommodate a classic motorhome on these type policies, so I pay 5 times that for our 26yr old gulfstream. Just wondered if others had managed to find classic insurance for theirs.
No not in the UK.
I think it was Gordon Brown (I may be wrong) who stopped this.
Vehicles registered before 1st January 1973 were and still are classed as Historic vehicles and qualify for no road tax.
Any vehicle first registered from the 1st January 1973 has to pay road tax.
Unfortunately the 25 year exemption is no longer accepted here.
I was lucky with "Martha" my VW Camper (Above picture) as she was built on 6th June 1971 and is registered as a historical vehicle, No Tax.

If your happy with the one you have and it's not falling to pieces I can't see the need to change. I must admit neither I nor Mrs Badknee are 'keep up with the Jones's' types and don't need the latest model of anything just for the sake of it.At 13 years old maybe our 2002 B544 doesn't yet qualify despite being named 'Classic'.
Our first Motorhome and could well be our only as everytime we consider a change we decide against it!
