Hi all I want to fit a tow bar to my 2006 merc cipro garage ,has anyone got any experience of this and if so what ,ie.cost. Availability etc

very dependant on where you get it done, but some places will manufacture a bar for about £250, but others want £1000 for a rear protection bar with a towball. remember the heavier the bar the more payload you lose which many dont think to consider. there isnt a specific bar in production for your van or most others made before 2012

not sure of what engineering firms you have in ireland, but because your van was made before 2012, the eu rules on type approval dont come into play. a competent welder can make up chassis extenders and a towbar cheaper than most specialists charge. wiring up the socket can be either diy or get an autoelectrician to do it
