Ci Mizar Battery/heating Problem (1 Viewer)

We have recently bought a CI mizar, garage model. love the van wondered if anyone has had any problems with the webasto draining the leisure battery. We have 120W solar, but only an 110AH battery both new. Our battery is also located outside, anyone managed to fit a second. Like being off grid but need power for John's CPAP. Previous van smaller battery and solar lasted 4-5 nights. Have changed most of the lights to LED and dont use the others except when on hook up.

We've just sold our ci mizar gtl living "top class" 2006 model.
The first thing we did after waking up freezing cold over a very cold new year, on our first trip out , was change the batteries.
We got the advice from a fellow camper who was a trucker.
Ralph bought 2 Trojan batteries. Vented them to the outside.
Then got a b2 b monitor and an inverter. We only had hook up approx 10 nights over the following 6 years of ownership.
I couldn't tell you the ins and outs of it. But by me posting it will keep you on the page and someone will come along with proper advice.
He's bought this longer but not as tall red oblong battery now, for our new PVC. It can be layed on its side , and doesn't need venting. Supposed to last 10 years. Not cheap though.

Thanks for that, was hoping you would reply as i know you owned one till recently. Our battery is outside under the skirt and no obvious place for one inside, dealer not happy with our suggested site and not enough room under the passenger seat either, but will have another look once warranty work is done. Overcab bed feels a bit draughty but haven't found where it comes from yet.

We put our Trojans ( in a vented box ) under the small bench opposite the L shape seating.
The new red battery is an odessy extreme pc1800ft I've just asked Ralph for you. It doesn't need venting.

Our mizar was the older shape. With the burgundy gold Upholstery. Before it was reupholstered .
Not the newer shape beige gold one. The layout is different. Is yours the new shape ?
We loved it. But with no kids anymore, and wanting to get to more out of the way places, we know we'll love our conversion the same.
Although both brilliantly insulated ,we like to be warm and walk around de-fleeced and jumperless when inside through the winter. So we keep the heating on a thermostat . Around 18/20 , like at home. It kicks in when needed, and off when not.
As for the draughty over bed ? I can't say we had that. Even though it had windows to 3 sides. In fact we used to turn the vent off from the webasto up there. It used to get too warm , the heat rising upwards. We often closed the curtains to keep the heat out! Silly question , Are you sure the windows aren't on vent?

Thanks Bev and Ralph, newer gold 2008 water tank under forward facing bench seat, side seat opposite has the gas bottle locker underneath a small shaped storage area at the front and a storage area above where the webasto is sited. might just get a battery in there, but at the opposite side from the existing battery. might look for a low level battery to fit under passenger seat. Suggested an underslung gas tank and use the gas locker for the batteries, but john not happy with that idea. Mind you so long as he can get his bike in (it fits with a slight modification) and we can get the solar to keep the battery going he will be happy. we do have a small generator but it is noisy and used only as a last resort. It annoys me so am sure it has the same effect on others. Off to filey folk festival this weekend but will be on hookup.
Have checked the windows, all shut, will be taking things apart and changing them but we got a warranty when we bought the van and dont want to change too much in case it gets invalidated.
We take grandchildren away and it will be interesting this year, 4 berth van 3 grandchildren, told them one would need to sleep on a camp bed in the garage now they are arguing over who it will be, am a bit concerned it might end up being gran

Out of interest what does CPAP stand for (first time I thought it said C*AP)?

Well, solar regulator was faulty, just spent weekend at a folk festival and no need for the generator, success at last. Even tried out the diesel heating, it got quite chilly at night, bit of a voltage drop when it first came on but evened out nicely. now to find way of insulating the(external) leisure battery for the winter.
