Not long enough!
Thinking about this which appears to allow you to watch what is on your phone, on your TV.
I have unlimited Internet, and it appears an easy option. Any comments? ?

Certain phone/tablet apps allow you to stream to your tv via Chromecast (or Roku in some cases). Chromecast streaming is also available from you PC/laptop. We have BT Sports via Sky, my main use of Chromecast is for streaming the BT app instead of paying them extra for multi room, which works pretty well. There are other options out there too, but we've not explored them.

Yes it's good. But you have to be on the same network. You can cast from Chrome browser. And YouTube.
What do you mean? I'm on t mobile

Not everything on your phone / tablet will just send to the TV... The apps need to be linked and designed by the builders to do it and approved.. Here is a list..
https://www.google.com/intl/en_uk/chromecast/apps/

After seeing your post, I have Amazon fire tv sticks... Turned my phone to a hotspot ( so using the mobile wifi) the fire stick connected to that and worked fine...So maybe thats another option and the fire stick can have Kodi installed and get "dodgy" films etc... Note.. all this only as good as your internet speed.

We had one in the travel trailer in Spain last year and watched latest releases via the laptop and iphone. As my semi resident professor set it all up I dont know how easy it is to set up,and I have a feeling it requires mains power to work. Obviously it also requires a good wifi connection. We have now moved on to a self updating android box.

I gave one to my Mum, We use it when I visit to watch films I play on my tablet via VLC on her TV. She uses it to do a photo display now and again.
Handy little device.

It looks like you need 240v to work.
Only on 12v mainly. :-(

Chromecast can be powered direct from the USB socket on the back of many TVs. If no USB on TV can be powered from a USB Powerpack, the sort used to extend battery life of a mobile, or from a USB adaptor plugged into a 12v MoHo socket etc.
240v power supply is an option if direct USB power is not available.

@Margaritaman
Thanks for that. I went into tesco to buy one.
The lady checked it out and said you need 240. I do have a USB on the TV.
Are you certain the USB will power it? ?

@Theonlysue I don't have mine with me at the moment so can't check for you sorry. Mine is the "first generation model" but can't see why it can't be powered by USB from TV. Sorry for late reply.
Cheers Chris

Power:
Supports the standard 5V, 1A power supply
If you have to use a different power supply than the one provided with your device, be sure to use a UL-listed power supply marked “LPS” or “Class 2”, with output rated 5Vdc, 1A.

Just found this on the goggle help pages @Theonlysue
Mine is the Chromecast(1st gen). Clicking on that link shows it can be powered by USB. Clicking on Chromecast (the current one you are probably looking at) doesn't show powering by USB as an option.

Link to Chromecast help page https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/3212934?hl=en-GB

Hope this helps
