I've never been but have heard good things about the Amiens Christmas markets. The municipal campsite ( Parc des Cygnes) opens up especially and there is an aire on the outside of the campsite. There is a regular bus service from outside the site.

It's the largest Christmas market in northern France and it is worth staying in town to watch the son et lumiere on the front of the cathedral.

Are you restricted to France? Last year we did Bernkastel Keus and Trier on the mosel valley. Beautiful drive over the Eiffel mountains to get there and chocolate box towns. Amazing. We used a long weekend and took the train.

This year might even repeat the same trip.

We were at Cologne stellplatz last week. Was very very busy and we were lucky to get a place early afternoon. You would need to aim to get there early if Christmas markets are on.

Munich has an excellent Christmas market. There is a good stellplatz at the football stadium.

We were there a couple of years ago. At the time we were able to book a place beforehand, believe it or not (I think there's a website) which was worthwhile. You stand a better chance if you go midweek.

Have been to quite a few different Xmas markets throughout Europe when I was coach driving - Cologne was by far the best. Should take about 4 1/2 hours from Calais on good motorways (no tolls).

NB You will need an umlautplaket ( Emissions compliance sticker) for the Cologne stellplatz. You can buy them in advance,( Google..) or buy one in Cologne itself. It lasts the life of the vehicle and costs about 5 Euros.

If you want an EHU on the Cologne aire take a splitter with you so you can share and a long lead.
