On our way towards the Dordogne we will be driving from Cherbourg to St Malo (yes I know not exactly direct).

Does anyone have any suggestions on 'must see, don't miss' places along the way please?

Thank you :)

The obvious one is Mont St Michel. I've not been for a long time but someone on here will tell you the best way to do it.

.....and if you're doing a detour to St Malo a detour to Bayeux might be worth considering.

If you go to Mont st Michel don't park in their car park it costs a fortune, if you don't mind a bit of a walk there's a lovely aire about 2 miles away, barfour I think it was called from there you can walk right up the river bank all the way to the cathedral.

St. Mere Eglise has the paratrooper on the church roof and a small air museum and it's on the main drag down. If you're doing Bayeaux then take in Pegasus bridge and while you're at it the Normandie landing beaches and the 360 degrs theatre at Arromanche. In fact you could forget St Malo.
