Had a motorhome turn up on the campsite and I noticed drips coming from under the plastic trim on the side of the van. Not a huge amount but unusual to see. I mentioned it to the owner, who thought it was coming from the fill up hole as he had recently filled up.
I pointed out that this water would have come down the outside not from underneath. I suggested he check his tank lid. Just spoke to him again and it was the tank lid. Not sure how long the lid had been like that though.

With the stories of people having to rebuild the sides/backs of their van after leaks I thought this was worth prompting on here.

Might be worth checking and adding to the checklist to prevent having jobs like this one.

We had a brand new Hymer in 2017 from Lowdhams got on site and filled up ! After half an hour or so I thought how big is this tank the gauge said full so pulled of to pitch up that’s when it dawned on us the whole of the double floor was flooded😮 the dealers had not fitted the water tank screw in cap during the PDI 🤬

Just checked mine as I filled up yesterday on site. Mine has two top fittings one large main access/cleaning screw cover and a smaller one with entry/exit hoses and this one was not totally tight and there had been a slight leakage.
I don’t normally fill tank so will not have been a problem and accessible double floor area is dry.

Thanks Gromett (y)

I stayed at a Haven site some time back and we were put on a grass pitch and we were the only ones on the grassy area due I think to the size of our van ,as I was filling the water tank I thought this is taking ages so I took the hose out and the jet of water went about 60 feet ,after turning off the water I opened the floor hatch and discovered the pressure had blown the top off the tank and I had filled the double floor which was a bit of a bind . 🥸
