Check if the engine is still there.
If you are near Liverpool the local scallies will have your engine out faster than a F1 pit crew.

If its a yellow coloured light I think you can safely continue your journey and refer to a workshop at the soonest opportunity.

If you are technically inclined to get involved, plug an OBD2 reader (cheapily and readily available through ebay) into the 'on board diagnostics' port to ascertain what the issue is. If you're lucky it might be a faulty sensor reading that will clear once the OBD2 is connected.

Hi thanks for your replies no I'm not that technical like bob nick says I will go and check it tomorrow and if it is still coming on I will need to book it in thank anyway will do an update when I know more thanks. Oh forgot to mention it was yelowly/orange?

My money would be on a dpf issue if new enough to have one. What make / age?

Cheers James

HI its burster fiat ducats 2.3 multi jet 150 hp 2018

I've had this in the last week. Continued the trip home with caution and without incident (approx 100 miles).
Searched Fun and given the clue that it may be fuses, but to no avail. Then a clue that it may be a 'soft' warning and it may clear after four engine starts. Success and hasn't returned. Hope that helps

Our 150hp often chucks up the yellow triangle if we fire it up before all the self check lights have gone out on the dash. Takes 3 or 4 more restrained starts over a period for it to reset.

Emissions to high. I get it sometimes from doggy diesel. It takes some good diesel mixing up and 15mins drive in 3rd gear at 60-65mph to clear the dpf. The light goes out as soon as emissions improve.

Hi, Raul thanks I filled at Sainsbury's before I set off but I might put in some of that premium diesel in and see if it clears thanks.

Further Update put in premium fuel(Diesel)nothing/ started stopped engine four times nothing unfortunately I think I,m going to book it in and hope for the best.

Do what my brother did in his Merc when a light came on, he put a bit of black insulation tape over it. Went for years no problems. TRUE fact.

To be honest I have just driven to Costco to put diesel in and back and it seems fine.

Just booked it into Motosave @ Swinton Manchester looks like Jamesh was correct they think it is DPF filter to. I have used them a couple of times and they seem to be very informative and helpful staff.

The new diesel needs to go through the system to take effect. Next start up, it will scan for existing conditions and light goes out if fuel has improved. Give it a Dpd regenerative drive as I said 3-3,5k rpm for good 15mins while you drive. This is going to come back on you if you do short trips. The garage can run a forced regen with the obd plunged into the soft they run, and can be done stationary. Why pay? Put good diesel in, and give it the beans to get the Dpf hot. Same result as you would pay.
Make sure you got plenty add blue in.

Dont think you have possibly covered enough miles to warrant a DPF to be honest? IF its true that the DPF has failed or filthy with carbon build up then the truck would have been running rough for a while before the light came on. If it is the DPF and its low miles (By that 2018 is too new to warrant a dpf failure unless its under warranty with Fiat still) ours has only covered 14k miles on a 2017 and i would think others too would be thinking of changing their truck if these were to fail frequently . Financially too expensive to keep changing. Its more than likely to be a sensor (Lambda) in the system possibly downstream of the cat converter. Often when the orange light comes on after a Diagnosis with a Code reader its the sensor failing to see the ECU quickly enough. A code reader would answer the problem for you . Dont be fooled into buying a new DPF.....roughly £350 and up!

Mine came on again on our last trip…..3rd time. First time Camper Assistance (RAC) attended and cleared the fault code, which was Regeneration incomplete. 200 miles later came on again, took it to Fiat Garage and they replaced the DPF sensor.

Couple of thousand miles and it came on for a third time. Booked it in to the Fiat Garage but can’t get in until 4th August, which will be over a month since coming on.

Done half a dozen short journeys and the light has gone out. However, because it takes so long to get into my local garage, I’m still taking it in and getting them to read / clear the fault. (y)

Our DPF sensor failed in our new van…..about 3000 miles. I do hope the unit itself lasts a lot longer.(y)

Mine is just past 50k miles (vw crafter) and the regen sometimes is interrupted due to short distance. I had twice the light on so far. Soot can build up from diesel with high sulphur content, long idle, short change etc. If you have stop start don’t disable it. I leave mine on. Only disable on shot journeys where I know the lights don’t take long. The dpf sensor measures the velocity of exhaust gases, and if there is obstruction, like soot, the sensor tells ecu the dpf is sooted. If regeneration runs its course in the back ground on long journeys will succeed in burning up the soot. Short journeys can interrupt the regen and the cycle repeats till dpf slows the gases to much, and the sensor picks on it. It can be cleaned if regeneration had little success, certainly not changing it.

I've had this on our 2019 Sunlight. Ducato 130. If there was a slope involved when parking it can throw the auto oil checker a curved ball as it thinks the the oil is low/high according to the slope direction.
I have dropped the battery neutral [ easiest to get at, and off as a quick release post ] terminal off, and cleared the fault, and it then doesn't come back until a similar incident occurs.
Fiat will kindly reprogramme the electric oil sensor by basically over writing it and doing away with it, for a princely charge £££++, which is good of them, for fixing a fault they launched their product onto the market with!!!
It's probably worth a try yourself, before incurring cost for clitch.
Mike

Hi yes I did stop on a slope and when I set off the engine symbol came on?

Not funny mate, personally us scousers are sick of arrogant self obsessed Londoners but we don't go around talking about it.

I've only scanned the above posts but did see a few dpf comments. It's well worth trying to initiate a regen before spending money. An issue with dpfs especially on motorhomes is that due to their nature, contents and handling characteristics we do tend to drive them 'gently'.
May be worth driving 20 mins or so on a motorway or similar in a lower gear than normal to get exhaust system temperature right up and see if that clears the dpf..

Get it looked at by a professional I ignored these warnings for quite a bit. Then I began to loos power my garage managed to save the DPF. But it cost me a new turbo.
Just short of £1000.☹️☹️

Thanks very much for that I appreciate it.

Check Engine, update: Big thank you to mike, BouncyBoatFolk, he was correct it was a false reading for oil sensor as I stopped and started on a slope. All fixed thanks.

The OP said it’s a 2018 model so no add blue tank
