Most crossings I believe also friend who is attending the MCC national is going via Cairnryan is touring S Ireland after the rally and returning on the Fishguard route all for same price return price of 175GBP. We are considering something similar for a month. You are tied to certain days of the week check Stena site for the rally offer.

If anyone is interested I will post the details later when on my own computer

since 2006 ( I think ! )
So £175 each way is still £350..

Even the £175 is bloody expensive ( IMHO )

In that case, pretty good and almost comparable to the channel crossing mile for mile..

I wonder what that will be in August ?

Apparently MCC are in negotiations with Stena for favourable members discounts for the future

Yes, Liverpool/Dublin is expensive, but not if you live in Liverpool . A 460 mile round trip to Stranraer, then another 260 mile round trip from Larne to Dublin is by no means cheap and very time consuming. With fuel costs as they are now some of the more expensive ferries are now working out cheaper and no wear and tear. It all depends where you live and where you are setting off from.
As I said I can travel to any port as I want to see the country on the way to the port So it dosent matter where I leave UK.

Re. Stena line out of Cairnryan we are attending the MCC Rally in Ireland, booked the Ferry, staying for a month( limited dates) @ £175 return, the only time we have beaten that price is with the Irish(Eire) Motor caravan group a few years ago.
Re. overnight stop, the Ferry Company at Cairnryan inform me that I can stay overnight in their car park for £5, which we will have to take advantage of, because of the long drive north.
Best Regards Mac

Thanks to all the replys.....once again the forum has come to the aid of a bewildered traveller/visitor to your fair shores. As soon as we complete the Moroccan adventure we will need to decide whether to head to Ireland or Italy. Time will tell and of course the weather.. Thanks all Colin
