Looking on their websites might be a good start as only you know your preferred sailing date (at Easter? school hols?) sailing times, vehicle length/height or number of people etc. and there are sometimes special offers. For example, and I know you didn't ask about Dieppe - Newhaven but if you book by phone and are over 60 you get a 20% discount on the fares but not on the cabin cost (if you want one) shown on the website but this isn't made clear on the website.I will be looking for the lowest priced ferry crossing FROM Calais to UK mid April.
There you are, @colyboy , get yourself a dog!I just booked Newhaven Dieppe one way end of Jan, me the dog and van £72 with the 20%

And after midnight but before 8am.The cheapest crossing from Calais will be with DFDS.
or Dunkirk & around the 40€ markAnd after midnight but before 8am.
Only first 10 miles after that it is on a nice Coastguard cutter with full medical, free food and accommodation on landingCheapest crossing at the moment seems to be in a 3m inflatable dinghy with a five horse outboard and six Iranians for company.
Don't know about that you might have to pay about £3.000 to get here but don't worry you will get very well compensated once you get arriveCheapest crossing at the moment seems to be in a 3m inflatable dinghy with a five horse outboard and six Iranians for company.

Just re-checked: There is no 10.00 crossing to Calais on 16 April with DFDS there is a 10.40 crossing at £130.00 with DFDS. Once you go over 7 Mts in length the price increases. the same crossing for a <7 Mts motorhome is £82.00 and both fares would be cheaper still if travelling earlier in the morning. P&O is £76.00. A no brainier and now is the time to book me thinks as it will not get any cheaper.did a quick search (as you can) and P&O is about £90, Tunnel £100, DFDS £120 for 16th April 10:00 AM crossing with 7.5m MH!
I searched for 10:00 and obviously it gave me the options above... obviously if the OP has a shorter van he can save some dosh but I just put in my dimensions as an example...Just re-checked: There is no 10.00 crossing to Calais on 16 April with DFDS there is a 10.40 crossing at £130.00 with DFDS. I'd like to see P&O beat DFDS on priceNope P&O
see my post above!!!I'd like to see P&O beat DFDS on price
No doubt about it ! On this particular crossing date P&O beats DFDS. However, I do not think this is the norm (More than happy if it is !). I have been doing the Dover Calais crossing for years and always compare P&O against DFDS and I always find DFDS cheaper. I will look at some random return crossings and compare to get a feel for who offers the better deal. As you can no doubt tell, I have time on my hands today.see my post above!!!
I have always found P&O cheaper but maybe its the 7.5m van we have, you have to compare the same???? We always use C&MC as they give comparisons for the same crossing however we did take advantage of booking direct with P&O when they had a sale on a month or so ago.No doubt about it ! Not sure on selected date but i have always found going direct is cheapest way to do it ie the price shown on comparison site is not generally cheaper - dfds i know sometimes do a game offer which will give discount on ferry from dover.Yup! P & O Now cheaper. What we need now is a price war.
