I was in the pub tonight reading on my sony PRS-505 and was getting peed off by the light reflecting off the silver surround. I love my sony but was on the verge of going back to the van to get some black PVC tape and wrapping the damn thing in it.

I will consider my options tomorrow but this doesn't look too bad?

I have gone away and read some reviews on this device to see what I have ordered. It looks excellent.....

I have now ordered another for mum for her next hospital visit.

Thanks for the pointer :thumb: At £29 it is an amazing bargain.

A gift. But as far as I can see it won't read Kindle books and others so make sure you can get the books you want in it's format.

Calibre is the answer there. Buy the books off amazon, remove the DRM and convert to a standard format that can be used on any ebook reader.

Has the advantage that Amazon can't delete the books after you have paid for them which they have done a couple of times now...

Just read an article on The Register about this deal..

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/05/01/barnes_and_nobles_slashes_nook_prices/

The E Ink tablets in particular aren’t half bad and, unlike Amazon’s Kindle equivalents, use the closest thing we have to a universal DRM system: Adobe’s copy-protection software. As such, the Nooks can take books bought not only through B&N but also from most rival online bookshops that support the ePub format. Apple’s iTunes is the notable exception.

So basically you can buy from anyone except Amazon and Apple. Every other outlet should work fine. But as per previous post Stripping amazon DRM is straight forward with Calibre so only Apples walled garden is a no go area.

Plus from the comments in the above article, you can easily root the device and install the Amazon sofware to read Kindle books if you want.
