I have a 2020 Chausson 711 Traveline purchased new from Hayes Leisure - who have now closed down as a dealership.

Can anyone advise on the situation if I get any dampness issues requiring warranty work - where my local Chausson dealership here in Scotland will not do the work, as the vehicle was not purchased from them.

I would ask Chausson where you stand and who they have to take over warranty work.

And maybe the next one won't be either with that attitude, I know I wouldn't be keen to give them my hard earned cash.

Hi Funflair,
Thanks for your advice. I have emailed Chausson via their website and am awaiting their reply.

As I understand it, m/h dealerships generally don’t want warranty work as they get a much lower rate from the manufacturer. I dare say that they would rather not do any such work if that is the case - even if you purchased from them. A purchase from another dealer is a good excuse for them to say no!

I am surprised that there is nothing in place like in the car industry where you can go to any franchise to have warranty work done. I would have thought that Motorhome manufacturers could impose a contractual obligation to do warranty work irrespective of where purchased. Am I missing something other than a big brain?

Similar thread earlier this week.
Hello all. I took delivery of a new Chausson mh last October from Hayes Leisure in Birmingham. I now find that the dealer has retired and closed every thing down. I asked if another dealer was opening, or one was going to take over for service and warranty work but was told nothing was in place. I spoke to a dealer not too far away and they said they only deal with vans they sold. Where does this leave me?
Any advice would be greatly received.
Pete...

I’m sure I read that Chausson still use timber in the wall construction so that’s a bad start in constructing a Motorhome.

You would think so but other than a few exception (Hymer?????) only the supplying dealer does the warranty work :(

Exactly. I have the same situation wbere a dealer told me. Buy from us for 5.5k more or you will have to travel for your warranty work. I said. Fine. I am a pensioner and will travel. But remember. You will never see a penny of my cash in your till ever again.

I'm having warranty work completed although not for damp for swift warranty at Central caravan and motorhomes stirling I think they do all type of warranty repair they had a swift in for water ingress when I was there last week. Top firm great workmanship

Hi,

Is your motorhome a Chausson and is Central an authorised Chausson repairer. They are not a Chausson retailer as far as I am aware.

Cheers
Jim

They are NCC approved so I thought they should be able to carry out warranty work. Mine is a swift and they are authorised for that. Didn't realise chausson has to go back to the dealer?

Forget the warranty. Go for not fit for purpose. A mobile home should not leak after 3 years. I would write to Chausson UK and say you are going to court if you don't hear anything within a certain time
