Hi All
My wife and I want to visit Chatsworth house one Friday in July and we would like to make a weekend of it. We like villagers or small towns with pubs and restaurants within walking distance of the van, can anyone recommend a site or stop over within 50 miles of Bakewell. Thanks in advance.

Hi, there is a caravan club site at Chatsworth with a back door that leads on to the estate and a couple of nice pubs near the entrance to the site that do good meals .

The Grouse and Claret just outside Bakewell has a small caravan site attached.
That pub is in
Rowsley Village not far from Chatsworth.

Please can anyone tell me, do you need to be a member of the CAMC to stay on their Chatsworth site? And, if not, do you pay extra as a non-member?

I think they allow non members of they have a space but it's always popular winter and summer and is one of the most expensive sites but the convenience and setting is amazing!
Phone them up and check we have had cancellation spaces before say you are thinking of joining and would like to try !!;)

Caravan club site at Chatsworth is 15 mins walk from the house and you get a decent discount off tickets when you show you are staying at the site. Well worth it.

None whatsoever
As others have mentioned the Caravan Club site is worth paying for as the setting is brilliant. However,it does get booked up really quickly all year round.
