How do I get rid of this chat icon I can clear blogs and media but can not get rid of chat and am not interested in it but for some reason it keeps coming back.

By clear do you mean the red number?

If so you cant as far as I know, I think it simply says how many are in chat at that moment

that said I have been on with a number shown and found nobody there

It shows how many people are on the "chat" page. If you join them the number will increase, if no one chatting there wont be a red icon.

I don't use it, but it often shows only one person chatting.... It must be a one sided conversation

My OH must use it then as she has a habbit of talking when no one listens
