We recently purchased a 2012 IH630 RL with factory fitted roof mounted Solar Panels.
Please advise if it is necessary to turn off electric hookup charger to leisure battery to prevent overcharging while the sunshine feeds the battery from the solar panels.
Many thanks
Dexter

It’s ok to leave both on, the controllers will cope just fine, but if your solar is charging ok and filling your batteries why are you paying for electricity…🤔😎

The solar controller will sense the battery state and adjust it's output. That way if plugged in, all the charge current will come from the mains charger. Likewise, when the engine is running, the alternator will supply more current than the solar to start with, but as this drops off with the engine battery reaching full charge, the solar will then increase it's output. That is assuming that a B2B charger has not been fitted. That would supply a much higher current than the standard alternator and relay
