For those planning to cross with Euro Tunnel today (24 Aug), plan for delays.

We estimate some crossings are being pushed back by at 90 mins or so.

I saw on the news from yesterday that you can walk across, even cheaper than returning a used rubber dinghy .

This may have been a false alarm. We've been sent through to passport control. Possibly only going to be 30 mins delayed.

I was optimistic. It took 90 mins to get through all of the checks. That is on top of our delayed train.

Prepare for delays.

It seems to me that people do not appreciate that the tunnel is well below the sea bed, not by a few feet but by 75 metres (250feet) at least, following a strata of rock which goes between England and France, the French end being still well below the surface hence the large circular pond you see. The likelihood of getting seawater entering is so remote i doubt whether a nuclear explosion would breach it. I had the job of teaching this at GCSE Design Technology level when the tunnel was newly opened.

We came back yesterday lunchtime only a 10minute delay. Smooth check-in apart from being searched 🙄

We're lucky we weren't on the ferry today .... 6+ hr delays.

It seeks that we were lucky... Others waiting for trains weren't:
