Hello all, I’m looking to change the taps in my 2005 fiat ducato Autotrail and I’m a liityle concerned that I may not be able to just put a conventional kitchen mixer tap in there? I’ve been reading about maybe needing a tap with a ‘micro switch’? I’ve looked underneath the kitchen tap and I can see an earth cable and two flexi hoses but I’m not sure whether there’s a microswitch?? Also having difficulty seeing how I can get to the workings of the tap in the bathroom? It seems to look as if you have to take all of the unit off?? Is there an easier way? Thanks in advance Michelle 😃

If the taps have micro switches they will have two wires going to the bottom of them.

Thanks, I’ll take a look, without sounding really dull though are they particularly thick/thin wires? Upon quick inspection I only noticed an earth going to it, thanks 😊

If you don't have microswitch taps then like me you can fit a normal tap. You will probably need brass screw thread to spigot fitting to go from taps Flexi pipe to your red blue internal pipes. Like this....

If after you switch on the control panel after filling the fresh water tank from empty you can hear the pump running until the pipes are pressurised even if the taps are off you have a pressurised system and can use any tap that fits. When our taps needed replacing we found some that were near enough identical dead cheap at Screwfix.

I've changed the kitchen taps in our previous PVCs as the stupid low ones drove us nuts as we couldn't get the kettle under. If there is no microswitch then the 'world in your lobster' pretty much ... one thing to bear in mind is the size of the opening for the tap in the worktop as some are fatter than others and also where the on/of lever is ... if it's at the side make sure that it can be easily used without fouling on something (don't ask me how I know!). Just remembered, if you have to use jubilee clips make sure you buy good ones as the cheap ones often do not tighten up well enough or are liable to strip the 'thread'.

As for the bathroom tap, that is likely to be much harder to sort due to all the cabinetry etc so unless it is vital to change it I'd be tempted to leave it as it is.

I don't want to scare you off but might be worth reading these threads:
