Hi - we are planning on driving down from Clermont-Ferrand down the autoroute A75 to Florac in the Cevennes.

The best route to Florac looks like coming off the A75 onto the N88 / N106. Has anyone done this route in a motorhome?

We will be cycling from Florac, so will park up there.

We will be heading over to Ales afterwards- again on the N106. The road looks quite twisty on the map!

I distinctly remember that route a few years ago as the sat nav said No because of height, however, you could see all the lorries coming back.
Half the road is taken over by low rocks but you just drive on the other side of the road, it is no great shakes and plenty of visibility with little traffic on the road
Good swimming on the road south of Florac and the aire was pretty good.
I think we went there after le tour was doing the col de sauveterre a few years ago as well

EDIT wrong road, thought you were following the tarn from MIllau

We haven‘t driven the N88 but have driven to Florac on the N106 from Mende and it is absolutely fine for a motorhome. You could also use the D998 from La Canorgue to Ste Enimie if you wanted to drive part of the Tarn Gorge. We have also driven both the N106 and the D9 to Ales and again, both routes were fine. At the time we drove these routes we had an 8m coachbuilt.

We did that route few years ago with the intention of travelling down the Tarn Gorge. The route to Florac (N88, N106) was fine and our MH was 3.5 mtrs high. Sadly we couldn't do the tarn as we had to turn around at the first tunnel - only 3.2mtrs but went back there a few years later in a "lower" MH - well worth the trip with lots of places both Aires and campsites to stop and enjoy the surrounding area - even on a bike.
