The C o C merely relates to the vehicle conforming to the requirements of the EU. Not necessary to be carried when abroad , V5 is of course required. Together with Cert of Ins

I don't know if it's necessary but glad we had ours with us whilst on this trip to Scandinavia,Germany as I needed an Umwelt sticker and it provided the info required as VC5 did not have it on.
It's only a bit of paper so not a problem to keep with your vehicle documents(y)(y)(y)

Got the umwelt sticker with just the V5.But I did hear that some Spanish police were stopping people with electric bikes and asking for their CoC.

Is the certificate of insurance still required as nearly all my policies are emailed to me? So I don't have an original and according to the internet a copy is not acceptable.

In a word yes, you need to prove ownership (V5) insurance (certificate) and driving licence. Foreign police don't have access to the DVLA database, so you MUST have the paperwork.
[edit]
Printing the PDF that gets emailed to you is acceptable. There isn't an insurance company in Europe that send a paper one now (as far as I know)

I always carry a photocopy of my V5, vehicle and travel insurance documents. I can't imagine your average overseas copper is going to be bothered it's a copy, unless you had the original next to it to compare you could identify it as a copy.

That's not actually true regarding the go-box as I got one only a couple of weeks ago at the Slovenia/Austria border with only my V5. They only asked what euro class my engine was and how many axles I had. 5 minutes later I had my go-box.

I suspect that is because many are conversions and do not comply with EU rules, specifically over sized motors
