I had my wifes van (VW Caddy) done and just washed it. The water beaded on some areas but didn't on others like the bonnet, it just stayed wet all over.

I thought it should bead immediately on contact with water ? or have I got this all wrong ?

we are still learning
To be honest ...I did our Fiat with a kit from the web. It took me ages to get the end result looking like the one in the youtube film above! I put it down to my lack of experience for it not looking as good as it should have done.
It saves me doing all the car though now when I wash it!

Not what I would expect from a proper ceramic coating. What brand was used?

We had Paintseal Gen3 on the motorhome and Williams on the car. On both the water either runs straight off leaving the surface dry, or beads. We have had the car for a while and it still looks and behaves the same as it did nearly 5 years ago. Too early to say how well the motorhome finish lasts. When we picked it up the salesman said feel the new finish and then run your hand over one of the untreated ones, it felt like glass compared to the polished one next to it. You could try running your hand over the surface to see if the areas feel different.

im a not so newbie
I spoke to lad who did it. He asked if I had it washed at VW which I had. He blamed them but said he would re do it when this virus is sorted.

That explains it
Eastern European’s using TFR it strips everything back to the clear coat.

Get a sign made for the next visit to the garage.

DO NOT WASH THIS VEHICLE.

Our car has had 5 years of regular washing without losing the ceramic coating, including Audi garage and local car wash.

I am dubious but as he said he'll re do it I'll accept that. He was going to do the motorhome but I'll wait and see after the van is re done first. He has a good reputation and though.
