Someone in their wisdom botched up and wiped the ceiling in my van with damp cloth ..... it has left a horrible stain, which looks like damp - but isn't.

It is driving me potty. I am going to have to paint that section of ceiling to sort it. Ghe question is ...'what kind of paint, please?'

Don't paint it as it will stick out like a sore thumb IMHO.

Can you not try one of the car valeting products for interiors?

Or try some lightly diluted APC?

What's APC please?

And what do you mean by interior car valeting product? I tend to just use glass cleaner on my cupboard doors .. didn't know about ceiling cleaner.

I did try VERY diluted Fairy liquid on a tiny section but it looked worse.

If it's a vinyl paper finish or just plastic you could try PVC restorer as used on plastic window frames and conservatories.
If it's a flock type fabric VERY GENTLE use of a soft nail or tooth brush and soapy water in a spray bottle used sparsely.
but try a very small area first.

@movan you can get interior cleaners for cars etc that are specific for the job.

APC is all purpose cleaner but would need diluting as it is fairly aggressive and used neat can break down grease to give you an idea.

Ty. Would I ask in a caravan/motorhome shop? None around here but I could pop into one of them on my travels. Will do.

For the interior cleaner you could go to Halfords Auto Glym works well.

For APC most large supermarkets should have it.

@movan that stain looks horrible and I hope you manage to get rid of it. Sadly I can't suggest a cleaning product that will do the job as I have never had this problem. Good luck.
