as most of you know I am converting an ambulance to a motorhome by useing the inside of an old caravan, well just about finished now but the water heater just won't play right, if the engine is running it works without fault , same if on hook up , but just on battery it comes up with the low voltage light and won't work , but this is a new batteryand always shows well over 12 volts , I have rung the expert in Nottingham that always comes up on searchs but he doesn't understand it , is there something somewhere that reads the voltage or what, it's not supposed to cut out till it drops to 10.5volts but it's nowhere near that low.
What can I trynext?

Test the voltage at the Cascade end. If it's low (I expect so) put thicker supply wires in.
The voltage at the battery will be higher when on the move or on EHU, so will compensate for the loss down thin wires.

as water heaters go, the cascade is pretty simple and reliable. to work properly it needs to be supplied a full 12v direct from the battery via a fuse using good thick cables

Afraid that's what it's got:( only about two foot direct from battery poles and it's a new battery that always shows well over 12 volts at both ends.

On hook up or if the engine is running it works non stop , switching on and off automatic but just leave it to battery and it stops(n)

That's what I'm thinking but where is it? There's a printed circuit in the switch on the wall and also another one under the burner, I don't want to mess with things that has nothing to do with it so do you know where the senser will be?
Don't want to be a pain on this but it's a mystery to me.

Could be either the burner control module or the switch, more likely the module ( these are the only components). It’s easy to remove and if AR electronics are only a few miles away, it might be good to let them have a look at it. I think a pcb repair and retest, where they set everything up and make sure it’s working properly) is about £60.
I assume you have it wired correctly? 12v supply to switch then the 4 way cable from the switch to the burner?
The burner and control module are all one unit. To get it out, you take off the outer plastic cowling, (4 screws), take off a metal plate covering the burner ( 2 screws) and there are 2 screws holding the burner unit in place. Undo these and the module will slide out. Disconnect the wiring from the burner and your done.
Don’t forget to turn the gas off first!

Hello, I have exactly the same situation and water heater won't start when running from leisure battery. The current voltage is 12.6v when on battery. When on hook up goes up to 13.9v and water heater is operating normally. Please help. Chaser have you solved your issue?
Thanks,kris

chaser? Can you help?
Sorry not been on much this week, been a bit busy, and only just seen this but yes I did go to http://www.arelectronics.co.uk
And they are really the bees knees on these things, and what it was , was the cable from switch to module, can't think what they are called but it is the same sort of ends that you connect things on computers, but should be stronger cable than the one I had, it has to be the proper one for the boiler not the computer ones , just thought what they are called, din plugs, yeah been perfect ever since.
