2015 Carthago Chic C-line.

Just discovered that the lower connection between the pipework and Alde header tank is leaking; not a lot but enough to cause a problem. If any of you have had to access and remove the tank can offer tips on a identical vehicle I will be very grateful.

Is it not possible to simply tighten the clip?

Where’s the header tank? One of the cupboards above the TV?
If it’s like mine, and that’s where the header tank is, easy enough to remove the wooden panel from around it. I’d imagine you could get to the pipe then and tighten it.

Even with the panel removed it is not possible to access the clip.

Thats the problem with Carthago, they spend so much time hiding pipes, cables, trunking between the double floors, and up the routed channels inside the vertical wood furniture framework, before they put the inner top floor deck on, and the side exterior panels, they make it impossible to reach for servicing or adding more wires etc.
When I picked our new van up from the dealers, I told them I was going to fit a victron battery monitor above the hab door, and run some cables round for extra switches & sockets. The workshop guy asked me How?, I said I would simply fish the cables up there, he said you wont, no chance he said.... having tried for two days to run a "hidden" gas pipe for external BBQ point between the double floors :mad:he was right of course. But I did get round it, eventually, just not the way I thought I would, same with the sockets.

Good luck with reaching the jubilee clip somehow, I feel your frustration as we all know it just needs nipping up probably.
I think Clarky had a pipe split near his boiler while he was away in France, years back, but he did manage to somehow find a Cathago dealer to fix the problem, which was lucky.
All the best, keep us posted we are all with you in spirit.

I had a tiny but annoying leak on the water supply to the toilet flush in my Carthago I143
There was a joint in the pipe behind the toilet under the sink area and access to the jubilee clips was awkward but not impossible. However tightening the clip did not fit the drip.
I managed to loosen both clips and separate the joint. The barbed coupler was made in a soft nylon or polypropylene that was much softer than the pipe itself so the barbs just squashed and didn't make a seal against the inner wall of the pipe.
Fortunately I have access to a lathe and turned up a stainless barb coupler and it's never leaked since.
I'm wondering if the OP has the similar issue ???

It's not a jubilee clip, more one of the sprung type.

I have a Laika and have the same problem as Richard with topping up. I solved the issue by procuring a tiny watering can with a cranked spout, designed for watering house plants. I keep this exclusively for topping up the Alde.

Good memory Les. (y)
That was a hot water pipe not the heating circuit.
Got it fixed bodged at the roadside outside of a Spanish Carthago dealer. It did get us out of trouble though and got a proper fix once we got home.
Even that was a nightmare to get at, needing arms like an octopus.

Richard.
