Just changed to a Carthago 59 XL Chic and seem to have a few issues that I need to sort

Just out of warranty so down to me 2 and half years old

Any help would be appreciated before I dive in.

1. The inverta factory fit 1800 doesn't seem to recognise 230 hook up and stays inverting. If you manually turn it of when on ehu the 230 sockets work but if its on standby you get no 230 to sockets

2. Electric slid out step retracts a bit twisted and then gets stuck a helping hand or shove and it goes back in but if not gets stuck halfway

3. Alde heating pump is a bit noisy more so then I remember on previous vans with this wet system works ok though

4. Water pump judders a bit when on I guess I can tune that out

5 Fridge is very sensitive on 230 hook up and when you take another source power draw it flashes as if its got no power and bleeps. Then will resets. At night with a stable power supply its fine but in the day its a pain

Crap really for an expensive motorhome but its what you have to expect with a private sale. Not complaining you pay your money and take your choice but some issues Ill need to fix

Hi Graham, How many different sources of EHU have you tried?. The fridge is voltage sensitive, if it's not getting the full 230v
it will look for another source. The step might have suffered some damage and might need some adjustment.

1 Sounds like the change over relay isn't operating correctly.
2 Strip it down
3 Check what speed pump is set at
4 Ours is noisy too
5 Quite a common occurance, fridges are sensitive to low voltage so check site supply,

Welcome to the world of Carthago. Worth joining the Owners club as the Facebook page is useful for problem solving. The factory inverters do have problems with the inbuilt change over relay which could be causing your problems. The juddering water pump is fairly standard as well. The fridges are like many others, they are sensitive to low voltage on some hook ups. If the supply is under 210 volts the relay will try to change back to gas and it then gets confused. This may be your issue. Can't hep with the ALDE pump noise, the steps are a bit weak and do tend to bend out of shape. Again can't comment without seeing it.

I did think it might be worth trying some other ehu here to see if its the quality of the delivery to the fridge and not the fridge itself.
Im guessing it could be the supply if so that's one sorted

The step is slightly different to my previous steps it slides straight out and not like most others.
Im betting if it was dismantled and cleaned maybe its got some crap on the runners

Anyone ever taken one like this apart

Thanks

That was helpfull
Not particularly but he makes a point. I have a Brand new Burstner. I was told they were a good quality brand. I have had quite a few issues but again it was with other branded equipment within the motorhome - Thetford fridge, Dometic reversing camera etc. So not really Burstners fault - as in the main your problems are not really Cathargos fault. It does seem generally Motorhome and Caravan equipment makers are pretty crap.

Re. item 3. As above, check pump speed. Alde recommend speed setting No. 3. Ours was noisy at that setting, so I turned it down to No. 2. It's much quieter and just as effective. Interestingly, setting No. 2 is what they recommend for caravans.
Adjuster is on the end plate of the pump.

Vxman get it and understand that its all suppliers kit.
Had a few burstners and like them and realise all MH have issues

Robert was stating the bleeding obvious that's why I said not very helpful
I guess we were both factually right

Your inverter question needs a lot more info before anyone can help. Such as what inverter is it? Does it have auto change over.

Maybe a photo might help, or at least a name and model number.

Read all that sounds like it could well be

The inverta does have an inbuilt priority switch and that's what I thought it could be

I think previous owner has been running inverta all the time with charger pumping battery

Surprised it didn't burn out

Cheers

If it is the Waco inverter the mains connections on the rear are via male & female IEC plugs you can bypass the inverter by unplugging them and plugging them together until you get it sorted.
2. Electric slid out step retracts a bit twisted and then gets stuck a helping hand or shove and it goes back in but if not gets stuck halfway
Partly take it apart clean off the runners and guides then regrease with ordinary grease. Dealers have a habit of using white lithium grease on them which should not be used on plastic, the runner are plastic & it causes them to stick.

Dometic fridges have crap firmware. If the mains voltage is to low they change to gas but because it detects mains the gas valve remains closed. If you listen you will probably hear the gas ignitor clicking trying to light non exsistant gas.

Like I said your answer was factually correct but not useful
I think we all know that almost what ever you buy it disappoints with some of the kit fitted.

Iv not had the pleasure of owning a Morelo and probably won't as its a bit to much to spend for me on a MH

Hymer, Burstner, Carthago is more than enough

So is the the Morelo with the cash

Cheers Lenny

Some of these I will try and fix. Im pretty sure the step has an obstruction on the runners

not a criticism at all, but I think people look at some things strangely. If I bought a house that included the white goods and tv's from a developer who built the house, is it his fault if the washing machine goes faulty out of warranty?

Its clear that I bought a MH out of warranty and its down to me to sort
Im not complaining I bought it very cheap and now I have some shite to sort

Just looking for some help on way to go from people who know more than me

Appreciate all the help and comments so far

Cant stop laughing as I sit here hearing the fridge keep peeping

Well some MH builders/house builders could on some items have a choice of suppliers of equipment/systems, but choose the less reliable/cheaper ones.

That should not happen with a 'premium brand' MH but still does unfortunately.

Some MH manufacturers do offer the better equipment as an extra, so the buyer has a choice. But even that option can be abused since the price of the better spec option should only be the difference in the retail price of the two, not the new price of the higher one without credit for not supplying the cheaper one. Fitting costs should be ignored as they are probably the same, and were included in the basic sales price.

We were only talking about this very topic earlier, unfortunately these days the average consumer is actually quite happy to buy complete crap as long as it’s cheap !
Nothing is made to last anymore in this throw away world , corporate businesses churning out crap for the masses , look back at anything that you can think of and the products were designed to last for a lifetime .
My kids are in their 20’s now and they always remember me telling them that I wouldn’t buy plastic crap !
Buy cheap buy twice 😂

All our 'bought in' appliances from 2003 MH build are still working. Either we have been lucky or even those were better quality then?
