Hi all Carthago owners , just to let you know the garage is nearly full , I’ve been planning best way to get all the gear in and still be within weight 👍

I will weigh the van soon as I get chance , we only take motorbike in summer , and it only weighs 110 kg , but with all the rest of gear might be on its weight , e bike are about 40 kg less batteries as I put them up front locker to spread the load 👍

Well if it is it is , so I don’t think I will derate to 3500 now !! As I was going to because roll tag won’t work now and have to go slower , but better to be legal , also don’t like them big Anglo morts stickers !!!

Lots of Funsters use the tags on big vans without a problem although you are not supposed to, or you could be sensible like us and not use toll roads.
As for the stickers we are 4500kg didn't bother with them, only saw them on really big French vans but of course all the Germans had them.

Thanks I was just going to put them on inside of window if there was a issue , so I can still use the toll tag in this vehicle no issues ?

I’m interested you can get 2 e-bikes in … did you have to remove front wheel on one though?

Yes but just a trial as I put other wheel on and moved Handel bars down ,moving handlebars is easier then taking wheel off 👍

If you didn’t have the scooter would you get away with packing bikes with bars/wheels on do you think?

Yes it’s nothing to do with scooter, it’s the height , when I first tried e bikes in I took front wheels off , then tried wheels on ,, too high so moved Handel bars down all ok close , but you could lay bikes on side but not secure , they need to be upright on carrier as photo 👍👍

Sorry to say I also think you are likely to be over the 2000KG on the rear. Our C-Tourer is 2500+ on the rear when loaded with bike and water etc. We are plated to 2700kg for the rear so we have headroom but all the Carthago vans are rear heavy. You might just squeeze it without much water on board and I hope you really do. Good luck.

Have you just got a spare tyre rather than a full spare wheel, i’m assuming you have because of the weight saving but i’ve often wondered what do you do if you need to change a wheel?

Al 👍

so 2000kg rear axle limit

Just a tip, keep the heaviest items either between the axles or as close to the rear axle as possible. The further to the rear it goes the load exerts more downward weight than it actually weighs

ah sorry my mistake then, when I look at your photo it looks like I can see the rim of the tyre and no wheel rim and something in the centre where it should be
