Just been touch with Harbour Creek MHs agents for my MH Carthago Malibou coach built. They say that all owners of coach built MH’s are always near the mark!! re weight!, They reckon that over 80% of MH’s on the road would be over the weight limit!

They state that the built weight is :- 3119
2 persons. 160
Half tank water 60
Gas. 26. (Our bottles are plastic)
Fuel. 60
_____

3415

Plus of course awning/ solar/ food/ebikes/cloths etc.

We will be over weight , so dealer suggest we carry no water and only half fuel. (And leave the wife at home!)

We have a Globe car, up rated to 4250 Kg's, just a paper exercise, I also have my C1, it was a long time working it's way through DVLA, about five months, but you are able to continue driving whilst the application is being processed, provided you are not suffering any listed ailments.

The details for up rating are as follows:

J R Consultancy

Unfortnately John died.

What am I missing.!!!
He gave up his C1 . So should be able to get it back.

Simple question Colyboy:

What are your current permissible axle loads (shown on VIN plate):

Front axle ?
Rear axle ?

You've already advised the following from the weighbridge (from a previous thread):

Front axle 1660 kg
Rear axle 1850 kg

This has implications on the method of upgrading to 3850kg.

If you upgrade via a paper excercise the permissible axle loads will remain the same.

If you want to increase the permissible axle loads, especially on the rear axle, this comes at a price.

Unfortunately, due to the death of John, JR Consultancy is no longer operating but there are other options.

I suspect the axle weights on the VIN will be:

1850 front = 190 spare
2000 rear = 150 spare

Of course this extra capacity can only be utilised if he uprates to 3850, if he also fits semi air on the rear he may be able to take the rear axle up to 2240 (Alko) or 2400 (Fiat).

So as stated by a dealer....80% of mohos are "not fit for purpose"

And I suspect that the % overweight of MHs from that dealer is higher because some UK ones are balsawood lighter.

It is time the industry, manufcturers and dealers, were made to clean up their act on what they are selling for what purpose for a buyer.
