Hi All, I’m new to this so just trying to learn the ropes. My Wife and I bought a new Fiat Select Campervan in December and we have just completed a first 1000 miles.
We have a CarPlay system fitted and connect Google maps via our iPhones for navigation. (Not sure if this is the best way to navigate but it’s early days).
On our first trip my wife was able to connect maps on her phone to CarPlay but that was the only time this was possible. Her phone will connect to enable calls or listen to music but that’s it - Google maps will not work despite weeks of trying. My iPhone is identical and connects to all media without any issues.
We have compared phone settings but still no luck. Has anyone else had experience of this extremely frustrating issue?

Have you tried deleting the existing Bluetooth saved connection on both the vehicle and iPhone then pairing again?

New Fiat = Bluetooth connection for CarPlay ?

I ask as if it were still cable (i doubt) then it could be the socket on one of the phones ?

Long shot.

Hi Mark, I would say that if it was bought new in December, nip back to the dealer and get them to reset it and show you how it all works.

When you say it works for calls and music, I assume you mean over ‘normal’ Bluetooth (i.e the stereo shows it’s normal screen, not the CarPlay screen with apple icons) rather than that the CarPlay screen is displayed on the vehicle but that only Google Maps app doesn’t work?

Wireless CarPlay requires both bluetooth (for the initial connection and hands free audio) and WiFi (a higher bandwidth connection for sharing the screen/apps to the vehicle) between the phone and the car stereo. You don’t ever have to configure this yourself - the phone and stereo do it themselves when you first connect CarPlay.

Perhaps your wife has inadvertently turned off her Wi-Fi, meaning it is connecting to Bluetooth for hands-free only, but not to CarPlay?

That’s exactly what happens in my car if I have turned off WiFi for some reason - I get music/hands free but no CarPlay until I re-enable the Wi-Fi and it connects to the stereo with that second connection.
