Good afternoon all. We’ve been merrily bumbling about with a combined smoke/CO detector which is at head height in our van. We have recently been told that due to CO being heavier than air, by the time the alarm goes off, we’d probably be in trouble as we also have a drop down bed which sits below the level of the alarm.

We’re quite happy to fit another alarm, at or near floor level but are struggling to find a location where it won’t be kicked or damaged. What do other Funsters do?

We have one potential spot under a seat, but it’s quite near one of the vents for our blown heating, is this likely to be a problem for the alarm?

Any thoughts or comments much appreciated.

We had the local firebrigage round on one of their regular visits, we have an audible fire and co alarm. They said it was OK, it's on the ceiling just outside the kitchen door. They tested it and didn't comment where it was, test was OK. They also fitted an alarm in the garage, foc.
Our Co alarm in the van is on the ceiling also.

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like we're OK with our current set up as the alarm is pretty much 5 feet up and right next to my ear!
